ive got like 50 questions about height, weight, tire, and driveability with throwing our rangers to the sky. there is currently only a 4inch suspension lift available which is not large enough for me to condone spending that kind of money. SAS is an option but how much higher does that put the truck? how much more weight can the trucks frame handle with an sas and not flex. what gears are you guys running. which gears are best for off roading, highway? any help here would be great.

The RCD lift is a 5" lift. SAS can put it as high as you want, its a custom suspension. Gears are determined on tire size, what size tire you looking at running.

There's calculaters on the web.....well basically a chart that shows tire size vs. gear ratio.....shows rpms @ 60mph.

What size tire you want to run?? 42? 44? ???????

What year is your truck????? 98+ frames are less desirable for sas...little less beefy in the front.

SAS can be 18" of lift if you want. It all depends on how big you want to go, and what parts are being used. What axle being used also is something that needs looked at. Your rear end might not be stout enought for huge meats.

Ton's of guys run either the Superlift 4" or 5" RCD w/ 3" bodylift and run 35's......HighRollerII runs a rcd/body and 37's.

ok first off, if you are worried about weight with the frame and the frame twisting i dont know that SAS is for you.

When you SAS a ranger, you are going to loose certain things, most guys that SAS their truck probably wont admit to.

Steering, ride, handling all that will change drastically from what you are used to.

If you are going to SAS a truck you better plan on being down at minimum 1 month. People dont take me seriously on that but I know it will take that long.Some may not admit to it, Sure maybe on the wheels in 10 days but how much changing and tweaking will have to be done after that who knows. Its all on getting it to where you are happy with it.

If you think superlifts are expensive, wait until you price out a SAS. Doing it right with no half assing is going to take at least triple the price of the superlift.

general rule of thumb, D30 up to 35" tires, D44 up tp maybe 40s-42s...

Run a 4.88 or 4.56 with 35s and 4.88s or 5.13s for 37s

All of the above stuff you need to decide what is good for you and your driving habits. If none of the above made sense, start reading.

What do you currently have zabeard ? I know your going to SAS but what are you riding with now? I would guess RCD.

My truck has been SAS'd for over a year with a Dana30

Dana 44 and Dana 60 8 lug is next.

Oh I did not know that. Thanks for the info. Man I wish I had a shop and a 2nd truck, I would love to have mine as high as yours.

I'm pretty sure his is close to if not a just a little bit higher than HighrollerII, who has a RCD and body lift.

Evan is higher because of the 37s, but pretty close.

I lost steering... but i love my truck regardless. <3

Zabeard is right with the EST. time for it. i thought id have it done pretty quick, i got all the suspension nailed out in about a week but then it comes down to steering brakes, runnign lines making hoses ect. ect. Its alot more work than it looks like.

and you have leaf springs.... try coils.

And just another piece of info...I dont care what anybody says...anyone on this site...zach...matt..vincent...any of you guys that did your own SAS..these guys are experts. So Steve if you plan to do SAS....make sure everything is in order...and your ready for a month+ job....this is a serious project!!
