I like Trico blades. I replace the assembly when needed. I read that some new ones are made of Teflon. They probably do work better but I have been happy so far.
IMO the most important thing to keep your wipers in good condition the longest is NEVER use them when ice or frost is on the windshield, that just cuts the edge up and makes them go bad real fast. A little reminder make sure to turn them off when you park. :P
I make sure to use the alcohol wipe on all new blades to get the stuff they have on them so they come out of the mold easy off.

I used those no frame wipers, and I was quite impressed until they started falling out. The little plastic things that hold them on are one size fits all and they don't fit very well. You can clamp the hook at the end of the wiper arm a bit more... I just went back to the stock metal frames with inserts.
The frameless ones did move snow well, they had an aluminum strip along the blade and were fairly rigid... this of course also keeps the passengers side tip off the glass lol.
