Locking gas cap?

Does anyone know if Ford makes a locking gas cap for a 2003 Ranger? Or should I go pick one up at the local auto parts store? I'd like to get one with the strap on it if possible like the factory ones has...

If your worried about someone siphoning fuel don't waste your money. There is a mesh that blocks fuel siphoning already, try to siphon fuel and you'll see.

I doubt ford does, but i think Stant? does make one, +1 on the fuel siphoning, but it will keep foreign objects/fluids out.

That film there wouldn't stop someone from poking it through with a sharp object first.. a locking gas cap helps give a piece of mind sometimes =)

Ford does make a locking gas cap.

That screen didn't help three trucks on my friend's street all newer than 05.

Well if I really want your gas and you have a locking gas cap I am jamming something in your gas tank and getting it that way.

Seems like such a hassle to have to get your keys out of the ignition when you refuel and take the cap off and fling keys around, almost scratching the bedside, etc.

We have had gas stolen out of a few of our company vans with locking gas caps and screens....they just drilled a hole in the gas tank. Cost 800 bucks a peice for a new tank.

This has been happening all over.
A 1 inch bit in a cordless drill can empty a plastic tank faster than any siphon hose.
I guess it's time to armor plate the tank.

Just in case you walk away from your truck or if you decide to lock your keys inside.

I always thought that would be a much easier and faster way, but hadn't heard of it actually happening. that would really suck, not only gas money but a new tank

The problems really begin when the tank is full and the jerk fills a 5 gallon can , letting the rest spill out on the ground.
Then some poor slob drives by and throws out a lit cigarette.

Maybe it's time for a someone to figure out how to hook up the tank sending unit to the alarm. If the level in the tank starts going down and make it smart so it doesn't set itself off because of fuel slosh.

Dont any of yalls fuel tanks have that screw-in cap on the back? Mine does. If the crook who wants ur fuel in the first place is intelligent tnough they would take that cap off the end and git it that way.

NO, I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE!!!! Lol

Lot easier and faster to just drill or puncture a hole.

I shut if off because it is supposedly safer, but why bother with the wear and tear on the ignition cylinder and the inconvenience. It isn't illegal or anything.
