A/C Compressor Setting?

A/C Compressor Setting?
On my way to see my aunt this morning, I set the HVAC control to bi-level and noticed the air flow as very cold, I knew the temps wasn't that cold out.
I switched it over to dash, then the air became outside temp. I switched it over to floor air got really cold.
I get home, pop the hood open to play with each settings, all but dash the compressor ran.
From my past cars, the compressor should only run in A/C, Max A/C, and defrost... Is something wired wrong, or is that the way they come now days?
I don't think the compressor should be running in bi-level, floor settings.

I'm going to call the dealer in the morning, and see what they say.
Hope to make it clear on what I see on my truck now.
(Starting far left going clock wise)
Max A/C = Comp. on.
A/C = Comp. on.
Dash = Comp. off.
Off = Comp. off.
Dash/floor = Comp. on.
Floor = Comp. on.
Defrost/floor = Comp. on.
Defrost = Comp. on.
This how I think it should be.
Max A/C = Comp. on.

Dash = Comp. off
Off = Comp. off
Dash/floor = Comp. off.
Floor = Comp. off.
Defrost/floor = Comp. on.
Defrost = Comp. on.

The dealer got back to me, and said all the settings I'm seeing is correct. (okay?)
What's the point of running the compressor when it's cool out and you need heat? I understand why for defrost, but for others? Nah...
I tried searching the site for the toggle switch add on and not finding it.
