98-00 are the best blocks for handling spray/forced induction. they have stroner connecting rods/pistons.
anything newer won't handle over a 100 shot comfortably without blowing...especially with high mileage and wear and tear.
thats from when i was thinking about nitrous in my old thunderbird.

Check out the following for awesome deals...

www.sn95forums.com
www.s197forums.com
94-98 is the "sn95" body style (like mine)
99-04 is the "new edge" body style
05-current is the "s197" body style
I'm assuming that you want a 4.6 based on the years given. GT's have a 2 valve, Cobras have a 4 valve. Except the s197 GT which has a 3 valve.
You can get an extremely nice sn95 making like 600+ that is a DD for 15k or less. It just depends on what all you want and if you have any plans for the car.
Any more questions, just ask away! I love goats, but they are just WAY to chubby for me and have some restrictions to rear tire sizes before having to pull/roll the fenders. I can run a 325 in the rear of my car stock, that's just pure sex! Also, would you rather have IRS or a solid axle? Strip or auto cross? The list goes on, but like I said just ask away!

Lets see. The fog lamps are different, the windsheild on the GTO is slanted back more, mirrors are different, different hood even on the 04 GTOs without the scoops, completley different front fascia, headlights are different, rear is completley different, GTO is wider, GTO is longer, interior is completely different and don't forget the V8 with rear drive and six speed.
The only similarity I know is the center counsel mounted window switches.

^For $25,000 All you are buying is a corvette powertrain. Don't even think about anything else the car has to offer, not to mention it's sedate styling and sparse, plain interior. I will say, those are very quick cars, but they are very "raw" at the same time. Meaning, I think something like that as a daily would get 'old', quick. A $10,000 mustang with a few bolt ons would suffice for me, but that is my personal opinion.

I find the GTO way more comfortable on the street. It doesn't have a rough ride, the seats are comfortable and the gas mileage is awesome. Yeah the interior is pretty plan but all well. I love the styling of the GTO. I have always like Pontiac styling so that's probably why I like GTOs. I also like to be different. Everyone has a Mustang. Why be like everyone? One last thing, they are more like $18-20K right now. American cars don't hold their value remember.

Soooo.. are you "looking at a GTO.." now? I'm confused.
I've driven 2 GTO's and quite a few stock Mustang GT's and even a '98 and '01 SVT Cobra and thought they all had squishy suspension compared to the GTI's that i've driven. Obviously those cars are much quicker than a GTI, but not in the handling or balanced ride quality dept IMO.
