at a loss of what to do
soooooooooo! i was at the dealership last friday to get a deal on winter tires
it took 2.5 hours to install 2 new front tires and my rear superlift spacer blocks
( an hour more than it should have took )
bill the salesman took me outside for 45 minutes to talk about the other rangers in lot
after i went back inside to wait even more , bill called me into his office ,
i was handed some interesting news , the extra hour was for a long time customer looking for a used fx4 with all power options , that was in top notch condition .
mine is ,, he looked over my ranger with a fine tooth comb
( he wants my vista blue fx4 )
so bill asked if i would like to trade my truck in for a new f-150
i told him that the f-150 was too big of a truck for me .
then he offered a 2010 sport 4x4 with only power mirrors and automatic tranny
i told him i would be game but the new ranger would have to be even swap ( no money out of my pocket at all . )
the only issue would be that the dealership would have to order the factory carpet option from the states and install it at no charge .
i am at a loss of what to do.
but i also like the ford escapes
what would you guys do in this situation if it were you

Interesting indeed.
The dealership is willing to take a hit and trade outright an older Ranger for a newer one? All to satisfy an "long time customer"? I'm just wondering who's taking the hit... the dealer or the "long time customer".
Keep us updated... this is very interesting.

Dealer isn't gonna lose money on this deal, this long time customer is taking a giant hit.
i would ask to see it in writing, on dealership letterhead, signed by your guy.

if its a even trade i would say go for it you get a new truck with no mile for a used one with some miles your warrenty starts all over again and you get disc brakes the down side to this is there is no l/s option for the 2010's but if l/s is a big issue you could always pick up a ford racing traclok and have them slap it in and it shouldnt mess with the warrenty if they do it

HAHA I'm just giving suggestions. Like I said, if you don't really need a truck then that opens up your options. Like KLC, he decided he didn't need a truck and he is perfectly happy with his Edge. Maybe you can look at your vehicle situation and think "I don't haul anything, I don't off road much, and I would like 300hp and 30MPG." A Mustang is not so far fetched now is it? But it's all about what you need out of your vehicle. If you haul a boat all summer then yeah, you should probably look into an Escape, or a new Explorer.

You say you just had em put superlift blocks on rear? I'm assuming you just put moNey into lifting it, and you would be going back to a stock truck, new or not, i would look for a little compensation for that money... Thats just me. Any added benefits you can squeeze out of it i would go for it, just make sure its what YOU want most of all

@OP- It's obvious the dealership wants to please this guy. You defiantly should get as much out of them as possible. Besides whatever vehicle you choose you should get some free warranty extension or free oil changes, or some free accessories at least.

Gotcha. I'm not really liking him so far. Hopefully he fades off pretty soon.

To the OP, everyone knows that you never get your money back on the mods you do to your truck, so by lifting it, you may not get that back money-wise. Any updates for us OP??

personally i'd never sell. your not trying to make anyone happy the dealership is. they can also find a suitable replacement in case you say no. it sounds a little fishy. someone is gonna have to eat that extra cost. could be you.
loyal guy might have to man up the difference or you might. dealer might not be as willing to take a 5-10k+ hit.
