Icon4 Low top speed only 75mph!! help

Hey, I just bought a 2000 ford ranger xlt 3.0 yesterday, and well its in good shape except the guy I bought it from said he changed the plugs but he bought plugs for a 4.0 and put them in and realized his mistake when he was done and he didnt take them out, Would this cause such a low top speed? oh and the truck is completly stock, and what is the correct plugs to buy could you get me a part number thanks!

Hi , My daughter bought a new 2004 3.0 an top speed was 88 mph ! I bought a new 2006 4.0 4x4 with 410 gears that tops out @ 98 mph ! I would liked more options . I ordered & bought all options except leather . I have locked my self out with the keys in the ignition ???????? several times !! So now I remove the keys at the gas station .The power lock switch is in the wrong place !!!!! My thoughts Bud

For low top speed, check for seriously overfilled crankcase oil level, plugged air filter, plugged fuel filter, low fuel pump pressure or plugged catalytic converters.

According to the 2000 Ranger Owners Manual, 3.0L and 4.0L use the same spark plugs - AGSF-22PP or equivalent.

Check my signature for a link to view Ford owners manuals online.
