I have a 2002 ranger with at least a pipe leak in the cat assembly, and a blown muffler. I 'm replacing the cat back anyways, and if a cat is leaking can get a bolt-on cat assembly. I don't live in CA, Maine, or NY. The only part of the job that scares me is the two studs attaching the cat to the manifold. Is there any way to get those off without destroying the manifold. I have a cutoff tool and an angle grinder I can cut away the side I am replacing, but if I break the manifold, I have worse problems. I do not know how to weld.

They are press in studs. I would soak them in pb blaster or something for a few days and hope they will spin off.
