Installed new tranny cooler and more mods
I finally installed my new cooler I just got. Big pain since I have the pushbar and the skid plate. I had to squeeze the grill out between the bar took me like a half an hour just to get that off. Install was a breeze so I went ahead and installed by back-up lights and small light bar in the bed and a 12 volt outlet in the bed.
I am trying to figure out how to make a switch to shut the 12v outlet off when not in use. Any ideas? I ran the power right off off the factory installed 12v on the dash and grounded it to the frame. How can I put a switch on it. Would I need a relay and a new way to wire it or should I keep it the way it is?
When I installed my fog, b-up lights and a light bar in the bed I used relays for these but the 12v I didn't.
Thanks

Great job! Where are the pictures?
What brand of tranny cooler did you get, and did you add fluid respectively after the installation?
As for the switch, you could put a 12Volt toggle switch on the ground wire. This would kill the outlet until the switch was flipped. Otherwise, use the 12Volt feed wire to power a relay, and wire the switch in to it.

i doubt you will be able to power the light since you are interruptin the ground wire....if you were interrupting the + side of the wire you could just add a ground to the center pin.....
you can also interrupt the + side if the switch is rated for atleast 15a......that way you don't have to run the ground wire back into the cab........if you interrupt the + wire, then add a ground wire to the center pin of your switch and the light should work...
