Alright, so as some of you know already.... I am looking for a new truck and looking to sell mine. Just the parents like to hold me up with it lol I have been looking around, and asked my buddy if he still had his. Yeah, he does. Only thing it needs is an engine, and he already has another 4.0 with 66k out of another 97 Ranger lined up to go in. He wants $1500 for it (obo). It's got a 6" (skyjacker?) suspension lift and a 3" body lift running 35" tires. Doesn't have any rust on it that I remember, and I know the kid since I used to wheel with him and I graduated with him. What y'all think?

No, but the kid helping me does. He has everything because he restores old cars.

djfllmn 02-28-2012 12:33 PM

i dont know dude...might be buying a can of worms with that truck...

Redneck Ranger 02-28-2012 12:35 PM

All it needs is the engine. I saw the kid build this thing from a nearly stock truck

djfllmn 02-28-2012 12:38 PM

frame is rusty...that would concern me

First thing I noticed.

Redneck Ranger 02-28-2012 12:39 PM

That's the first thing I would do.... Undercoat the frame.

this. i feel like it would be more trouble then its worth.

Redneck Ranger 02-28-2012 12:45 PM

It's really not though. It's a direct swap into the truck for the engine, and there's nothing else wrong with it. I was with him when it died

98liftedranger 02-28-2012 12:47 PM

You sound like your set on it so why even ask?

djfllmn 02-28-2012 12:47 PM

gonna kill you in gas...i just dont think its a very wise decision...you have a truck that gets you from point A to B just fine...why sell it for one doesnt run?

Because mine needs just as much in work done to it still. And it barely gets me from A to B anymore...

djfllmn 02-28-2012 12:58 PM

get that 3rd gen i posted up earlier...that would be perfect for ya

Redneck Ranger 02-28-2012 01:00 PM

Don't get me wrong, I like it. But I want an extended cab truck, and one that I know was either built right or clean. This was built right. The kid knows everything about Rangers.

djfllmn 02-28-2012 01:05 PM

its gonna chew up wheel bearings, ball joints, u joints, all that good stuff

Surprisingly it doesn't. The ball joints maybe once a year at most? But that's about all

djfllmn 02-28-2012 01:10 PM

once a year for BJs is a hell of a lot...

I ain't too worried about it. They're fairly easy to do, and cheap.

98liftedranger 02-28-2012 01:20 PM

Your dead set on it. Why are you asking us if you should buy it if we tell you why you shouldn't and you just turn down our responses? Just go get it.
