I kind of like that... the more things I can get off my key chain the better.

my ex girls bug had that thing. its like a switchblade key haha to bad i dont have power anything!

I have the remote-less version of the first key from the same seller.

Some words of caution:

1) since the key FOB is a LOT thicker than the regular key, you have to trim away the center part of the key cup in the ignition.

2) I've tried two seperate PATS chips in the key housing and in numerous positions.... it doesn't seem to wanna work. i don't know how PATS works, but I imagine when you insert the key and put it in the ON position, an electrical current is passed from the metal in the key to activate the chip's radio frequency. If this is correct, the key 'blade' isn't conducting the signal.



So in the end, I have a switchblade key that only unlocks the doors and turns on the accessories. It doesn't start the Ranger. I also have a cut up ignitnion key 'cup' now.

You can use the fusion key too. It has the fob built in

I'd love to run a Fusion key. But...too bad i'm not cool like ya'll with your nifty door buttons!

if i do do one i would have to go with option #2

my dads acura tsx has it all in one but it flips out from the side

You could zip tie a key to the inside of the column and that will let you start the truck with any key. The remote starter guys do this.

That defeats the whole purpose of the PATS...




but I HAVE been trying to figure out how to disable it.... Thankz for the ever-so-simple solution. lol

My buddy Trevor has PATS and he's got an override for it to use with his remote start...only has one key for the truck too. It's on the timer so after 10mins and the key isn't inserted and turned, it shuts the truck off. But...since he's now manual, he's gotta push on the clutch then hit the button. lol.

I can't tell ya how he figured it out...might as him over on facebook.


Oh...and Fred @ Rogue Performance told me he can write a tune to include elimination of PATS via a tuner(x2, x3).

You can get around PATS super easy, every alarm company sells a bypass for it. Mine is a box that gets plugged inline with the alarm and key cylinder. Retains the PATS completely and doesn't require a spare key. Most remote starts have a certain run-time for the exact reason you don't accidentally hit the button and have your truck run out of gas. Mines saved me a few times
