You should have a key to put into the spare-tire lock. If you've never removed it before, get some wd-40 or a lubricant and spray it in side the lock to loosen it up. Turn it and then pull out to REMOVE the lock.

Behind your seat you should have your jack area with the pieces to connect to form the long rod. Just put the hook end into the hole (where the lock was) as far as you can, and start crankin'. If it's the same as mine it's just held up there by a wire and some sort of holder, and it will start lowering towards the ground.

I don't think it is going to be the truck key. I have a separate key that is inside the owners manual booklet.

The key you need looks like this. If you need to order a key there should be a number on the lock cylinder you will need to have to get the key. Or if you can't wait you can just drill out the lock.

I would get one of these locks if I were you. Never know when some assface will come along and try to steal your spare. You probably won't know it's gone until you really need it. I paid $15 for mine.

Not all trucks have the locks. Mine didn't. I bought the lock right after I bought the truck.
