i may do that, but right now I gotta get the truck back first. And I have a strange feeling I won't be getting it back until Friday or Mon/Tues (not sure if they are open Mon). Which screws me over!

I'm posting from work so I have to keep this short.

However, after receiving the phone call I got this morning, Ford Motor Co. is losing the benefit of the doubt they have with me currently. As it stands, and pending word from the local dealership (Borman Autoplex) my Ford Ranger ownership days may be very shortly numbered.

That said, those of you vulturing for the RCD kit on here keep an eye open. Pending developments from this point on between myself, Ford, and the local dealership my truck, the RCD kit, Deaver F31 7-pack leaf springs, and 2 spare Alcoa rims might be posted over in the classifieds. For now though, PLEASE DO NOT PM me about these items yet. I'm just planting the seed for now and waiting on positive or negative developments to sway my decision.

I was talking to a security guard here at the mall. He refuses to take his F-150 into the dealership here after getting a tranny flush done. He suggested 2 of the 3 dealers down in El Paso. So right now the options still available to me are Alamogordo and El Paso dealerships and to fight this with my 3rd party extended warranty (60 mo/75K miles). If those fail then all options are pretty much exhausted, unless I want to sink money I don't have and put a 5.0 in with the explorer/excursion tranny (I forget what it is) or get another brand of vehicle (toyota and nissan......).

Anyhow, back to work cleaning cages, feeding my critters, and doing program reports.

just got off the phone with the advisor. Abuse so far is the reason for my issues. Apparently there's sand, caked mud, rock, and gravel that was found in the vehicle. I'm too shocked and pissed off to even think logically about this right now. From the mileage of the center force install, until me dropping the truck off yesterday, 800 something miles according to me, 400 something miles according to Ford mileage records, I have burnt the tranny fluid and have annilated the Center Force dual friction clutch and pressure plate. The clutch and pp are shot, need to be replaced. They are still looking into why the trans leaks though. I babied the hell out of the vehicle (more so than what I had been) after this center force kit went in, shifting between 2000-2250 RPM not my typical 2500. As a result of all this the vehicle has been placed unfit for use so until they find out what else is wrong with the trans and I give them the ok to repair everything I'm without any motorized transportation. My advisor had the nerve to ask me if I've thought about getting an automatic?! I can't even fathom completely burning the trans fluid to black and killing a dual friction clutch in 400 or 800 miles!

another opinion....i am telling you.......just because you have sand and mud on your vehicle doesn't mean you abuse it.......and besides, it is a Level II, Ford advertises and markets it as an off-road vehicle

got the truck back today. It goes to another dealer on Monday morning.

they didn't even drop the tranny to check it out completely, like I asked. They visually inspected the clutch, pressure plate, and slave cylinder. They also appear to have either wiped the leak area clean or resealed it. I don't know as I don't have an invoice.

What I do know right now is that I'm now coming down with either a sinus infection or another case of bronchitis.

At least you're at the point of getting it out of the hands of the idiots and getting it into the hands of professionals. I'm still at the idiot part. lol

Back from dealership.

Diagnosis: failing pressure plate. An OEM clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, etc are being ordered and going in next week.

you'll love that. The drain plug wasn't tightened all the way. However, my leak is still back! The tech (guy family knows) said if it's still leaking afterwards he'll look at the tranny when we do the new clutch/pp install.

lol....that is funny.......make sure you get that fixed.....i know you are mad at Ford for not fixing it, but it may be a bad tranny casing.....the mating surfaces may not be exactly 100% flat and dont mate properly.......there is always a few lemons in a mass produced item...

I feel like I'm going around in circles chasing my damn tail! Right now I've got to hope I can get my $365.23 back from Center Force. I was going to put another dual friction kit in, but if I get with the Ford stuff I get a 12 month, 12K mile warranty on everything. Of course it's gonna cost my another $900 in parts and installation and I won't be able to recoupe the $525 from the CenterForce install since the Center Force warranty is only for their product and they aren't liable for labor charges. So much for a tax return. At least I'll have enough left over to get the gears from Scott.

Long story short....

I get a phone call from Ford Motor Co. regarding the open claim I have with them and this trans leak. My rep is calling to tell me that she spoke with Borman Autoplex and that they confirmed I need a new clutch/pressure plate system (the CF kit that Vision Ford also confirmed is crapping out). Pissed at hearing this, because the issue is with a LEAKING trans not my clutch and pressure plate, I get in the shower, and then head over to Borman. I wait for the Asst. Service Manager whom is the dealership contact with Ford Motor Co for this claim I have. I take him to my truck, show him the leak, rant and rave at him, blah blah blah, and he looks up the history. He askes how much time I've got and I tell him I've got the day off. At which he says let's get it up on a lift and get this fixed.

Trans leak - traced leak to 5th gear housing, needs to be split and repaired.

Let's hope this is the issue. I'll have this leak repaired when I take the truck back over to Vision Ford to have the tranny tech I personally know do the clutch system work. My head hurts, I'm popping some excedrin and going to sleep.

UPDATE:

Got the truck back. In a previous thread I mentioned that I did brakes back on Wednesday (2-28-07). While the brakes were installed I also had the shop put in the SS braided lines from DBR. While waiting for the brake work to be done I got a phone call from Vision Ford (dealership in Alamogordo, NM - 1 hour away). The clutch and pressure plate came in. So I drive over to Alamo after the brakes are done and drop off the truck. Dealership gives me a loaner 06 Taurus to use while they work on the truck.

Clutch work is finished on Thursday but they had to keep truck over night to do the tranny leak work. Between the work I'm trying to contact the regional rep for Ford Mo. Co. to try and get them to honor the tranny leak work under my factory 36/36 warranty. The rep is out of office until the 5th. %$&*!!!! So I try to reach her supervisor, no dice and so I call back the original 800 # that got this claim going. They can't do anything, the girl on the line fully agrees with my logic, puts me on hold to talk with her supervisor and he too agrees with my logic, but because I already have an open claim they can't physically do anything for me. Their suggestions: 1) go ahead and have the shift housing resealed and then wait until monday to iron out how to have the work paid (36/36 warranty, extended warranty, or out of pocket), or 2) try extended warranty. My extended is aftermarket and not a ford factory extended. I have a $50 deductible on it and figure what the hell. Called them to see if they'd cover the work, sure enough they do. I call my service advisor at Vision and tell him to just have the tranny leak work done under my extended warranty. He calls me back and tells me that the extended warranty company does indeed honor this needed work, at which point I tell him I'm 2nd guessing whether to use it or wait until the 5th. I tell him to do the work anyhow and if there's more damage other than just a seal I want to have it honored under factory warranty, if it's just a reseal do the extended. I don't hear from him and no news is good news - generally.

Long story longer, I get the phone call today at work around 11:15am that the truck is ready. Advisor tells me to not worry about the leak work, it's covered and fixed. So for 30 minutes while at work making sure the museum is covered, as my boss had a meeting scheduled at 1:30 with the museum systems admin. and the secretary was having a root canal done, I'm going nuts. Boss is telling me to go, but yet we have no one to cover the museum. We get someone to finally cover and I'm off for the 2-2.5 hr round trip. During the whole drive I'm trying to think on why I was told to not worry about the trans leak, that it's covered. I get the Vision Ford and the first thing I ask is what's the scoop on the leak. Apparently back at ~33K when I took the truck in for the 2nd trans leak (first was a leak between main housing and extension housing) at the shift housing, according to Vision's head tech, the seal still on the shift housing was the OEM seal and there were no visible signs of a reseal attempted. I about crapped myself hearing this as back when it was "fixed" I returned at 35K saying it was leaking again and was told it was just residual oil for the previous repair (at 33k).

So far, no leak evident just from the trip back from Alamogordo to Las Cruces, and then driving home after work. Truck shifts smooth once again and now it's a battle between me and Midway (manu. of CenterForce) so that I can get refunded my $365. As it stands I'm back on schedule to get this blasted RCD kit on. Tomorrow I'm off to Albuquerque and I'm contemplating seeing if my best friend's brother wants to install the deaver leaf springs Sunday morning before I head back to Las Cruces. If not, I know what I'm doing Monday. Then it's wait for a regeared front diff and rear gears to arrive, then RCD install.

Travis, if you're reading this I hope to hell you're having equal luck and better service like I've just had.

EDIT: typos
