My 08' has been in the shop for 2 1/2 months
So my 08' ranger has been in the shop since August 19th, waiting on a power steering res to rack hose.. I'm getting pissed and wondering if anyone knows of any legal obligations they have with regards to this issue?
It is under extended warranty.
Has anyone ever heard of this ridiculousness before? Thanks much for any help.
Oh I am in Canada

WOW. That's pretty ridiculous considering it about a 10 minute job to swap out.
Why did you let this go on for this long?? And what are the excuses they are telling you?
I can understand parts availability/shipping problem being in Nova, but at most a week wait for the part. Here in the states, I can get a part the next day from a dealer regardless of where that part is. I'm sure Canada dealers also have a good network for parts.

Well, I am driving a rental, it is a focus however, because they had no trucks to give me...
They don't cover the insurance however, but my insurance covers a rental for 1 month only.. So I now have to figure out a solution to that... I work away so that is why I have let it slide, but it's beginning to **** me off.
The rental is covered by ford, but the reason is because they can not get the part for whatever reason from ford Canada, it's on backorder
There must be laws to protect people from this nonsense. Manufacturers are required to still produce parts for a vehicle for so many years I thought...

See if you can order the part from a site and have it shipped. The only drawback is here wouldn't be a warranty on the part. On labour, it could be hit or miss. I ordered my slave and clutch and had a mechanic do the work (outta warranty from the factory) and that's what he told me when he though the slave was bad. At least if he supplied the parts he could have gone after the supplier for retribution if he had to redo the job.
EDIT: rock auto doesn't have it, just the resovoir cap, r&p, pump and pump pully, seal kit, steering gear, cooler and a couple other things but no resovoir.

Go to the shop & see if your truck is being driven
