Offroad package shocks

I found this information regarding the 2001 offroad package. Does anyone know what Bulge body shocks are? I have never heard of them.

Optional off-road package includes:
Bulge body shocks
Five-spoke, 16-inch aluminum wheels
P245/75R-16 outline white letter all-terrain tires
Skid plates
4x4 Off-Road decals

I went out and looked at the ford parts catalog and they do list a separate shock for vehicles with the offroad package.

On fordparts.com they have 5 shocks total: 3 listings for 2wd, 1 for standard 4wd and 1 for the offroad package. Here is the listing....

Shock absorber, ranger, off-road package - 4wd, w/o beam axle - 4WD, W/O BEAM AXLE

I may have the shock you are referring two since my FX4 is what, in prior years, was the ORP. I don’t think they are much better than the standard shock, but I’ve never compared the two.

There is a difference, and I don't know what. I had a buddy that had the exact same ranger color motor wheels, as my 01 ORP ranger. I had really thick looking Silver Shocks, he had skinny black painted shocks. That and the 4x4 sticker on the tailgate instead of the box sides were the only differences we had.

in 2001, the non off road 4x4's came with "regular" shocks, but the offroad 4x4's came with bilstein shocks.

I went and looked at mine and they are completely black. Not sure now if I have the offroad pkg, maybe just the sticker...lol. I guess someone could have switched them out or something before I bought it.
