My junkyard sucks! Are they crushing rangers and explorers to prevent us from fixing the ones we own?
Here's the story.
I went this past week on my vacation to replace my busted driver side window and pick some relays(they seem bad since i tap on fuse box and i can get it to stutter) cause my truck has been throwing a CEL and stalling and starting back up on hard bumps and pot holes. Anyway, about a month ago there was a nice 95 4 banger that was in mint condition, only the a/c compressor was shot. There was also a 95 4wd that I had been pulling parts off for a while, leafs, blocks, etc. They also have various rangers and tons of bronco IIs varying from the late 80s to early 90s. None of these trucks were ready for the crusher, some were probably still drivable.
So I go there this past week and go look for those 2 rangers. I can't find them in their usual spot, heck, there's only 1 ranger in the whole yard and it an 84 that's stripped down to a body and frame. I go up to the counter and there's this douche bag stand there with his cigarette who I've never seen there before in the 3 years I've been going there. I ask him specifically where is the black 95 ranger that was tagged "pine hill gun club". He says it's out there, they moved them all. So I asked where. He's like it's out there.
I walked back out there, it's 90 degrees and I'm sweating. I noticed an entire row of cars missing in the "truck" area. That's where it used to be, both 95 rangers.
What's also missing was a perfectly good explorer that I pulled my 15" rims and tires off of. There was only one explorer and it was total, it had been rolled. So I left and said to him "there's not god **** rangers out there." He just said "they're out there." Well you go find them for me, and he just turned around and continued smoking his ciggarette.
Is this just my junkyard or are there other doing it? It seems like the trucks are getting rarer in this junkyard ever since cash for clunkers was announced. I even figured there would be a ton of new trucks considering the program has been extended.
I know someone is going to say, oh they let them sit, then they crush them, but this junkyard has cars that have been sitting for years, 3+ years. Why would they crush rangers and expos when they're the most common SUV and truck on the road wheres as some Deawoo **** box gets to rot away for years in there.
TLDR: Junkyard had lots of perfect rangers and explorers, past visit they had nothing, guy was jerk off, are they crushing trucks to prevent us from fixing the ones we currently own?

Explain my daewoo **** box example then. It's been sitting there for as long as I can remember. Hell, the damn doors are locked on it! you can't pull any parts on it.

Guess what? They've gotta move product. There's yards around me that NEVER move their inventory. There's busy big name LKQ u-pull-it yards here that go aisle by aisle...crushing then refilling the aisles. If you want my estimate, they keep stock in the yard for approx 3 months or 90days, then crushes. It's part of the business...no need to whine and complain about it.
Recently, the LKQ u-pull-it yards by me regularly get 98+'s...newest I found was an 04. LKQ owns my favvvvvvorite 'new car junkyard' that joe schmo can't go into...but since I've got a hookup there, I regularly spend a couple hours walking about with my buddy and we're always looking for the 'bio' labeled cars for brain guts. lol. It's weird seeing a corner full of porches, vettes, vipers, srt10's, astons, etc.
On a side note: I was almost crying when I saw my 2002 DWB Fx4 gone at the upullit...I knew it went to Ranger heaven. Good thing I ripped everything that was good off it!

I have noticed that most yards around my area only have cars up to about 97. All the newer stuff goes to auto dismantlers like LKQ and such. As a matter of fact I have an LKQ right next to my work and they usually have a ton of newer cars in the back. I don' b lame them since most people don't care and they tear everything apart to get the part they need.
And who cares about the Ranger and Explorer crushing. I sure don't. What are you going to do about it? Buy every Ranger and Explorer out there and keep it in the back of your house?

here we have pick-a-apart (4 hours drive from me)and -pick-n-pull which is an hour drive from me... we also have an auto parts junkyard( i know the owner and everyone who works there) but are fairly expensive because the pay guys to go pull it off the vehicle for you. when i get my wheels back on the road and get some money im gonna make a trip to pick-n-pull and see what they have for ranger parts.
