My park brake is seized
 

I tried my park brake last night. Put the truck in neutral and let it roll on my driveway. Then put the brake on, then tried to take it off. It didn't fully disengage. It wouldn't roll in neutral but when i put it in drive it idled forward. So it wasn't engaged very much. I just went out to go to the store, and put it in drive, truck didn't move. Gave it a bit of gas and it didn't move much. Just made a big clunk as it slightly moved. I have no garage to work on. And it's freezing rain right now so i can't do anything.

What do I have to do get it unseized?

Cut the cable in half. U need a new one any ways. If you don't wanna replace/cut it just grab the cable right before it goes into the drum and give it a good yank. It will prolly release.

This happens from time to time for me when it is really cold. I have a 5spd. and I always use the brake. Nearly every time if i give it a bit of gas in first or reverse it will break free.

Cutting or yanking on it should be the last resort, as you can pull the mounts out too, and have a hanging cable.

Hold out the release while you put the truck in drive/whatever gear, and it should release. I've had to do that a few times, before I finally did the yank trick, and now I have a hanging cable, but the park brakes releases every time!

had this happen the other day. . .i ended up driving up a friends flatbed then flooring it in reverse. . .but thats not always a good idea you slide pretty far once it breaks free

Yikes usually you don't have to yank hard enough to break anything. I always managed to get to break it loose if you yank it gentle out and to side.

Just be like me and my dad and never use it. Mine is seized and won't even engage.

Broke it loose. Ended up being the rear left tire. Grabbed it right where it entered the drum, pulled on it a bit, then it clunked and rolled a few inches. It rolls in neutral now.

The only reason I was thinking of using it was for putting a boat in and out of the water. Will it be ok to just put it in park? Or will that be too hard on the transmission?

it'll probably start working again properly once it gets a little warmer out...
