I know the two companies merged but I can't find any info on whether the same gas (gas with Techron) is sold at Texaco that Chevron sells. If at all humanly possible I only put Chevron in my truck and would be nice to know Texaco was the same stuff if I could find a Texaco and not a Chevron.

i dunno all the texacos around here have switched to chevron stations... im assuming that all will eventually like bp and amoco did

 

When I drive up to Nashville and/or Centralia I think there are still Texaco's cuz it's VERY hard to find Chevrons around Nashville....at least the areas that I go.

 

oh i know driving up to delaware i have figured out where all the chevrons are and only stop there... once you get past savannah they are very few and far between on I-95

I know of at least one Texaco here in town. We don't have Chevron much at all up this way.

I do the same thing only Chevron, I got one of those Chevron Cards it pretty nice....dont have to go inside and pay...Also don't think are many Texacos around anymore...

no it just a chevron card you pay at the end of the month...they usually have the sign up cards above the tank usually

I wouldn't have the slightest. I don't really follow gas companies or their products that closely. I figure it's all about the same and don't get overly excited about it. I usually drive down the strip and pull into whichever station has the lowest price on the sign, around here that's Cumberland Farms (aka Gulf) 9 times out of 10. Pretty sure you don't have cumbie's though..
We have Texacos all over the place, as I said, there's at least one here in town. I know of at least two others outside of town. I think I know of one that went out of business and another that switched ownership/brands, but there are still plenty around here.

Also any credit card/debit card works at the pump. The nice thing about a credit card is that it works for groceries and other junk too. And then you've only got one bill to pay at the end of the month. But if you get some great benne (like free gas) w/ the gas card, maybe it's worth it too..

 

Actually we do have Cumberland Farms. I did some research out of curiosity and all gas companies get the base gas from the same pipeline. A Texaco truck may pull up after a Chevron after a BP after a 76 etc... The difference is in the additives. Each company has their own blend that supposedly helps the engine and exhaust and all that. Techron is pretty much the best of the bunch which is why I stick with Chevron.

 

mmm aren't those gas "credit" cards a rip?? i mean if you dont pay them off monthly , which i doubt even half the people out there do, they pile on hundreds of dollars of gas with interest and you end yp paying like 6 bucks a gallon? my thing is PAY CASH IF YOU CAN - Don't be Lazy, or use debit/bank cards if you can... San Diego gas sucks! costco is the one most go to around here cause its cheaper.
ive seen texaco's like crazy on the drive to colorado. In san diego i think there might be like 2. everything else is shi**y arco, and ampm, chevron and shell oWN

 

Texaco and Chevron is an upstream merger. Meaning that their production, pipelines, wells, etc are merged. Gas stations are downstream. Although some old Texaco stations are now Chevrons, it is not due to the merge, but they bought those.

Most Texaco stations went to Shell b/c Shell picked up Texaco's downstream market.

FYI My fiances dad works for Chevron-Texaco, where I got my info.

 

I won't fully get into my take on credit/debit and personal money management. But you can use 'credit' cards well if you are disciplined about it. I know a lot of people that aren't, but those of us who can use a little common sense can use credit cards to their advantage. I get hundreds of dollars back every year from my credit card because I use it for everything from gas to groceries. But then I always pay it off each month and never pay a penny of interest. CC companies hate people like me, but for me it's win/win. If you use your head a gas card could be for you too.. I realize for lots of people that's a big 'if' though..
I buy that. The Texaco up the street here went to Shell last year sometime. I liked it because they put a mini Dunkin' Dougnuts, complete w/ drive through in the place. Of course six months later a DD opened up next door, making it pointless. But..

 

Ok so pretend I have no idea what that means for my question and reanswer please....If I go to a Texaco station, will I get gas with Techron or will I get the same gas Texaco has been offering?

Should be shell gas, because shell now has the downstream components of texaco.

so no techron.


I am sure there may be some indiependant guys a=out there that managed to keep texaco under chevron though, so I am not 100%

 

this is true. 9000 gals of gas has 1 1/2 to 2 gals of additive in it to call it branded gas

 

All the texaco's around here are turning into Shell's. We don't have too many chevrons in the area . Shell is advertising thier "V power" gas ALOT, I wonder if it does any good?

Oh on the gas card thing, Yes make sure to pay it off every month, they have lik 20% interest. Although I use mine every week, I just make sure to pay it off.

 

I like to use Sunoco. It rocks.

 

I noticed when I was up north that you guys have a TON of DDs. We don't have any around here that I know of. Up north there are like 5 DDs within a mile of each other in some places, lol.

We don't have many Texaco or Chevron stations around here. Just about everything is either BP or Kangaroo. There are a handfull of other places, but I usually end up going to BP.

 

There are no Chevron stations around here, but there is only 1 that I know of Texaco station in town, but I still don't go buy their gas, it's too expensive...
