my rant about my brakes - locked up
so I head to the local gun shop today, purchase a spankin new Springfield 1911-A1, real excited......then I get in my truck. It's pouring out, I start on my way out of the parking spot on a main road and I hear a loud thud. I get stuck in the middle of the road at a busy intersection and my truck will not move. I'm thinking I blew out the tranny or busted the drive shaft. I try moving..nothing. put it in 4 wheel drive and still nothing. Leave my truck in the road and go back to the gun shop and ask for help pushing the truck off the road. Three of us trying to push and it still won't go...the one guy gets in and floors it as it putts slowly off the road. I think for a second and slam the e-brake all the way to the floor and pop it out real quick. what do you know..the truck moves! I never set the e-brake when I parked....all I did was pull out and my brakes locked up and wouldn't let me move. I had no idea what was going on. The guy that helped me out said he owned a ranger once and his brakes locked up like that on the highway and caught fire! I was pissed not to mention I felt like a jackass. I never had this happen with any other vehicle I've owned. I was so excited about the new gun, now I'm in a bad mood. Looks like the truck will be going back to the dealer to see what the hell happened. Well, that's my rant. Thanks for reading.

i had this problem happen, onlly mine started off with warning me. What happened to me was the rear brakes locked up because i never used the E brake. So all the cables were correded in a bad way. Mine was under warranty so they replaced all the lines and what not, woulda costs 300 I think. They told me to use the ebrake once in a while atleast otherwise in another 4 years of never using it, the possibility would be there again.
if you dont use it you lose it.

I had the same problem, but it was because my brake shoes on the rear were gone....it was metal to metal and they were seizing together.....
Thats probably your problem...i would remove the rear wheels / drums and check it out....
Mine did it in the snow, i locked it in 4low and gave it some gas and it finally popped loose.......not the best thing to do but it worked...

He said he never set the e-brake that day. That he pulled out of the parking lot and the truck just stopped in the road....no mention of e-brake there.
Oh speed readers.......LOL
Anyway, I bet your brake cylinders are shot. Definatly get the rear checked out. I just had my rear right drum ineards grenade on me. Instead of Ford putting that stupid TPMS on the 07' Rangers, they should have gone with rear disks instead.
