Icon9 What else is there to do?

I just got my O2 sensors, spark plugs, and spark plug wires all replaced. I ran my first full tank after doing that. I thought that by doing all that my mpg would have to go up, but I'm still getting about 200 miles to the tank all city and thats driving soft. I replaced my oil at the end of may, I cleaned my K&N intake filter about a month ago I got a gibson exhaust, lots of airflow. What else is their to do to get better mpg?

I only say that because I hope you didn't buy the TRUCK for it's fuel mileage.

It's a truck.

200 miles per tank? thats not a very accurate measurement of fuel economy. mainly because there is no way to know how much fuel was actually left in the tank. what is your actual miles per gallon?

I didn't buy it hoping it get good mpg, I use it for landscaping and such. I just always hear people getting 250 miles to the tank in their 4.0s and I can't come close.

I've got 35's and a 4.0 with auto and 4.10's and I can get around 240mi to a tank IF I max it out... I usually fill up around 13gal or so which gets me about 190mi or so...

What gears do you have? and what tranny?

crawl under your rear axle, look at the diff. cover, and youll see a metal tag, write down those numbers and letters.. and tell us if it has a 3 73 or 4 10 or likewise in it.

Also, you must take into account that he has the OHV 4.0 not the SOHC 4.0 that the newer trucks have. From everything I've read they typically get worse gas mileage than the SOHC counterpart. Don't feel bad that you're only getting 200 miles a tank. I usually fill up around 1/4 tank left and have about 215 miles. That's with the 3.0.

Unfortunately you've done most of what you can.

My 94 has the ohv 4.0 with 185,000 miles, It's getting around 20mpg, Most of it city. Not sure how many miles im getting on the tank though, I never fill it. I inflated me tires up this past week which helped a lot, It needs new o2 sensors too. But I also have a standard transmission.

If you run the tank from full to empty and you're only getting 200miles to a tank that sounds pretty crappy. I don't know why you're getting bad mileage. My Ranger will get about 285-300miles a tank in the city and about 340-350 if it's all highway.

I have almost the exact same truck,,, 4.0 auto 4x4, I have 3.73s and even though almost all my driving is highway, I usually get right around 300 miles per tank (15-16ish mpg), and I have a 3" BL and 33x12.50s. All I have is a K&N drop in and my exhaust dumps right after a stock muffler.

twice a week I got mowing equipment in my bed but its just a push mower a blower a weed wacker and 3.5 gallons of gas. It all really doesn't weigh that much.

ok....

2000 ranger. 4.0L OHV auto, Live axle, 4x4....

just got 17.8mpg all city..

something like 250-260 to a "tank" i don't really remember to be honest, could care less what the "tank" miles are more the MPG at the end..

and that's compensated for the larger tires btw...

ok whats new..

fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires... hmm that should be about it on the "MPG savers" tons of other maintness tho...

Looks like 8.8 with 3.73 gears but I'm not sure since it's dirty.
