Need a Bigger Ford

Friend offered to sell his '09 XL F150 today and it seems like a pretty good deal, but I haven't priced any late model F150's lately. It's a basic XL ...4.6, automatic, regular cab, 8 ft bed, tow package, spray on liner, white with gray interior, vinyl seats, no frill flooring and I think a CD. Not a scratch on it anywhere, and it only has 3,600 miles on it. He's asking $18,000 for it - does that seem fair? Love my Ranger, but being able to haul 8' of stuff is pretty tempting. Thanks.

How often do you really need 2 more feet of bed space? I wouldn't do it

Actually, about every day during the last 8 weeks - selling house and already sold the business. Decided to not go the U-Haul route and have been trying to clear out one house full of stuff, move into another house, clean out a 6 bay shop and move into the new shop... trying to haul stuff whenever I have some free time to spare and the full-size bed would have saved a few trips.

Eh I guess, I just wouldn't want to go from a XLT Ranger to a XL 150. Thats just me though, I like my comfort.

Pretty much this truck here:

Cars for Sale: 2009 Ford F150 XL in Oklahoma City, OK 73112: Truck Details - 278964072 - AutoTrader.com

...but I'd be paying extra to not get a chrome grille or have cloths seats. I don't mind the black grille since I'm really starting to hate chrome, but there's a pretty big difference in price even if the truck I'm interested in does have less than 4k on the odometer.

I personally would pass. For that kinda money you can get a little big older 4x4 F150 with a 5.4. Might have a few more miles on it, but it would be worth it to have the 5.4, 4x4, and extended cab.

Now that the afternoon cocktail has worn off I'm having second thoughts. I'll look around for a better deal while I continue to dechrome my Ranger and just keep hauling as much stuff as I can. BTW, is the factory XL grille considered "black" or "dark gray"?

Hmm I'm not 100% sure. I thought it was black plastic like the upper bumper but I don't think I've looked at the grille close enough.

I always thought black also, but most online suppliers list: black "paintable" which looks smooth and a little glossy - black, which usually looks shiny also - dark gray is the only one I've seen that looks textured. Rather than order the wrong one I'll probably just see if I can swap one off of a parts delivery truck again. Did that a few months ago and then decided to put the chrome one back on hoping I wouldn't still hate the chrome. Didn't work, still hate the chrome - everything on the truck is either blue...or black, and the chrome grille just looks out of place to me.

I've been meaning to go up to Autozone and find out if they would swap me the euro tail lights offf my truck for a pair of 06 lights on one of their new delivery trucks.

Theres 3 in my area. All are XL reg cab long bed with the 2V 4.6. They wanted $17k new. They do have a chrome grill, color keyed bumper and cloth seats so technically XLTish.
