So on my 2002 Ford Ranger Edge Supercab 4 door, the rear doors will not open no matter what I do... We've tried taking the mechanism off and manually pulling the cables, but only the top latch unlatches and the bottom one doesn't budge. There is a hole in the door through which you can see the latch and we even tried messing around with that, but truly nothing has worked. I'm hoping one of you could help me!

 

I have the same problem with the rear Driver's side...

If the top latch works, just give the bottom a good boot while someone holds the handle open.

 

I would bet the farm the bottom latch is rusted shut. You may end up CUTTING the door off to access the latch

 

The cable seem to be ok. I drilled a large hole in the door jam and call se the top of the latch. The cable seems to be hooked up and I can see the little lever move. It doesn't pull the cable back in. Cable stays extended all the time. Whaat a mess
