What model is my 2007 ranger?

Hello I just bought a 2007 ford ranger 2.3L 5 speed snd reg cab 2wd in Canada. And the registration dos not have any model for it Exp: XL,STX,XLT,Sport Ect Just looking around seems like if I had to get any parts all the data bases want a model. What one should I use. What one is the bottom line truck for 2007 as I think that is what this one is. Its a plan Jane reg cab truck no frills at all.
Thx
Gary

If you have no pw, pl, or the like its an XL. If you do have those its an XLT. If your bumper and grill is the same colour as your body it's a sport.

Post pics but I'm willin to bet its an XL.

Isn't the model indicated by one of the letters (or numbers) in the VIN? Or perhaps on the decal located in the drivers door jamb?

Try entering your VIN in this link (says it's good back to the year 2000):

^agreed there is a lot of overlap on features between the two packages body moulding color or decoding the VIN are the most accurate ways to tell because a lot of the fleet trucks were special ordered with or without certain options so there is not really a standard for features determining the trim package. For some reason Ford is under the impression that turning everything chrome from the 80's is an upgrade lol.

Also your fender badge should designate the trim under the "ranger" text

The Vin # worked but still never told me what it was. It just said it was a Ranger pickup...

The other problem can be that if it was bought used from a dealer lot or used vehicle lot once in its lifetime, there's no telling what a previous owner did to it, from a parts swap point. Maybe someone added a trim part from the salvage yard to change its appearence, so that could through you off.

Myself, I have a 2000 XLT, and dislike the chrome front grill. I plan to replace it with a blacked out one. I think the chrome is a bit too much on the front. If this truck ever makes it to a new owner (no plans for that), it might make them wonder what trim model it is.

You do have a nice, clean Ranger there. Its a beauty!

Thanks for all your help guys...
If I order parts I will use XL.

Next I will have to look into a clunking sound in the rear when I shift and step back on the gas.

Yeah trim package only really matters when ordering trim or appearance parts. The mechanical stuff is about 99% the same on all packages so as long as you have engine and trans combo correct trim level won't matter much I have ordered parts under edge xl and xlt for my XLT ranger and haven't had any fitment issue. Your clunk is probably ujoints on the way out you get slop in the drive shaft that makes a clunk when it goes from unloaded to loaded.

Thanks again all.
I think I'm good to go now. I just ordered a new set of u-joints.
