Re-installing stock fan - Goodbye e-fan!

I never got around to adding the off switch to my fan and f'ed it up when I hit some water at Wharton. My truck as overheated twice cause the fuses keep popping and I found out my e-fan is f'ed.

Gets to be a PITA always having to check the fan to see if its running, check for fuses, make sure controller is working, etc...

So I'm going back to stock. My question is...do I need the stock pully tool that I got from advanced to install the stock fan? Or is that just necessary for removal only?

I think being that the fan is reverse threaded, you should be able to get it tight by hand, and it will take care of the rest when it turns.

As for the time being, if you don't have the stock fan - you should probably wire up your efan to a relay and hook up an on off switch for it.

I bypassed the controller and hooked it straight to power...it blows the fuses cause the fan won't turn. Water or mud has f'ed it up

So its pulling major amperage to get going, that sucks. Good luck with driving it that way.

Just as Winks said, turn it hand tight and the engine will do the rest.

I may reinstall mine, but I do prefer the lower noise factor of the efan, that and a blade on my stock fan had a chunk taken out of it and I haven't found a replacement for it yet...or bothered for that matter. The biggest thing seems to be that the efan is not cooling the engine and tranny enough. How much of a difference in fuel economy will result in changing back is my only major concern at this point.

Anyone know wrench size needed to turn the shaft? Or best bet is to use an adjustable wrench?

Maybe shaft was the wrong word...the part you turn to get the fan back on.

I might need your shroud...if its fits my truck. The JY said they weren't sure if the shroud would be there.

wow.....if you want to know the fan is on, then you should add a LED or other light in the power line from the controller to the efan....that is what i did, i know every time the fan is on......

I mentioned that already. I didn't install a switch. Decided to go back to stock instead of buying a new fan and getting it all wired up again. Between the fuses and the chitty controllers...I trust a stock fan more at this point.

I seem to have forgotten how it installs and what pieces I need....

Those 4 bolt holes on the fan don't connect to the pully do they? I can't picture it...where does the fan bolt up to? Do I need those bolts?

actually that does not mean the Fan is on either. or pulling the amount of air which is required.

there are four bolts on the fan, that's what you put the wrench on to turn it for the removal.

Could you erase his name and put my name on the fan/clutch instead?

My fuel economy is excellent with my stock fan, so I wouldn't worry... Your new tires are what will kill your economy....

I did gain a little MPG with the fan...then it brought it back to stock when I got my tires. So I'm going to miss that little bit...but it's not worth the cost of an engine if I keep overheating it.
