Need help locating something!!!
I got my left drum brake lid off my drum cause I need to adjust the drum. But I can't find where to adjust it at, anybody got a picture to help me out or can you just direct me to it. Thanks.

I looked there but it doesn't say anything about using a screwdriver to adjust them. and where.

Ok,
Bottom of the drum on the inside there is a horizontal hole that will have a rubber plug in it. Take that off, and you will see a cam in there. Use the screw driver to adjust the cam. Or fly in reverse and jam on the brakes. |

which way do I adjust it. towards me or away from me, when infront of it, not behind. Thanks for the help.

I cant remember, I think you turn it towards you, causing tension

why are you even doing this? Are you needing to tighten the pads up some? If so, just drive it in reverse at speed and slam on the brakes. They are designed to adjust themselves this way. It's how I do 'em.
Adjusting by hand could adjust way too much...so just throw it back together, throw her in R, and slam on the brakes. |

1. Release the parking brake, loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, chock the front wheels, jack the rear axle up and place it on jack stands. Remove the rear wheels. 2. Remove the drums. If they do not slide off you will have to retract the shoes. On the back side of the brake backing plate you will see a rectangular rubber plug near the bottom. Remove the plug and shine a light through the hole. You will see a wheel with teeth. Insert a flat head screw driver and rotate that wheel UP to retract the shoes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ger/brake1.jpg This photo shows, from the inside, what you will be doing to retract the shoes. Circled in red is the rubber plug that needs to be removed. The green arrow shows the adjusting wheel. If the adjusting wheel does not turn, you may need to insert a second screw driver and depress the adjuster (the pivoting metal piece partially circled in red). |
Alright I tryed adjusting it with a screw didn't budge so i put the wheel back on and went in reverse and slammed on the brakes and it worked. thanks guys that was much easier.
