Ok i'v taken my radiatior out....while i was removeing stuff to get to the radiatior....i found an E fan now did the 2.3 come with an e fan? it was hidden in the fan shroud to where you couldn't see it.....and it's about 15inch's big.....so my question is should i go a head a remove the fan on the engine? while i'm at it ..??? thanks for the help in advance

The current 2.3L come with an electric engine fan and a mechanical fan with clutch. It needs both.
|
k so how would i go about putting another E fan on it?
|
You can't. It needs both fans, or the engine will cook itself. I guess it has to do with being all aluminum.
|
well that sucks
|
yes, your engine does suck...lol
|
hey hey easy now....it does ok for a 4 banger  ...just cuz i burnt the cluth up doesn't mean anything  .....O and and.... i atleast beat Scott to your house! lol

anyone know if the efan is a pusher or puller?
and when its turned on? working on a custom setup here and just need somemore info |
It's mounted after the radiator, so I'd say it qualifies as a puller. Don't really know what differentiates the two types, as it pulls from one side and blows on the other. It's not like an turbine which has a definate suck or blow action.
The PCM controls it, so it's tough to tell what the activation cycle is. It always seems to turn on with the A/C, so that indicates a duty cycle tied with that system. Not sure if it also activates under high heat without A/C. Mine has never activated in a "key off" situation; even in the Florida heat. This tends to indicate that it works only with the key in. I'm still investigating the reason behind this fan, and what causes it to turn on. I've read lots of theories, but no official answer yet. |

I should add that the fan is commanded on when the CHT or ECT gets to a certain point. If you disconnect CHT or ECT, which depends on the vehicle, the PCM will default to low speed fan just in case. It is possible to have a second circuit that would turn on the fan with the key off based on another temp sender. I don't know if any applications use that though. |
