Need Help totally confused
 

Gentleman This is my first thread on this site and I need help. To0day I install an overhead console and a autodimming mirror on my 03 ranger xlt. I really read the how to for both installs but now my overhead console temp and compass does not display the dome lights wor properly as well as map lights ! Secondly the auto dimming mirror has the slide for delay of headlamp turn off But when I slide the switch to anything but off the headlamps turn on and stay on and a green indicator light on the mitrror stay on Any constuctive advice would be greatly appreciated. I cked and double cheked my wiring.
I am a new member but a retired mechanic and service manager of 42 years of GM service This is my first ford and I'm Lost!!!!

So let me get this straight:

Temp and compass don't display
Map and dome lights on OHC work
Lights stay on

Do you know if your temp and compass worked before installing? If not check this out:

For the auto dimming mirror leave the lights on and see if they turn off after 3 minutes. If so your slider is faulty and is defaulting to the maximum delay of 3 minutes.

If they stay on permanently then you wired it up wrong. Instead of an ignition source you used a constant power source.
