NEED HELP transmision Problems.

Alright I think my Transmission just took a dump. When I was going in reverse out of my driveway I heard a big cur plunk and no more reverse. I could go forward but when I put it back into reverse nothing. What do you think it could be?

Alright tell me guys how bad is it. give me an estimate to how much I might have to pay to get this fixed.

Thanks,
Clay

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...=146953&page=2 will take you right to the reverse clutch pack. Interesting reading, dunno how much it'll help you.

Best I can do. I believe you have a 4R55E, according to this: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...AutoTrans.html

Reverse band is not adjustable, so it sounds like something broke.

No idea what a tranny shop would charge. I'd look for a used tranny and replace it myself.

There is no belt, per say, just a band.

And that is probably what broke. Take it to a couple of reputable transmission shops in your area to check it out. Make sure they don't give you the run around, you know.
