Ok i got a really good deal today. A Family/Friend works at a ford dealer. I traded in my 96 ranger with 167000 miles For a 2006 with 9000 miles Ford Ranger Fx4 11 I really love the looks anf the ride. But what is the tow rate on these? Its a 4.0 v6

 

like, 6000 lbs or so, thats truck AND trailer..

 

 

A manual will have less but I tow an s-10 (20' trailer) all the time with my BL'd 4x4 4.0 manual

 

Will it tow my mustang? Ill get pics tomerrow for ya I got it for $18,000 Its only got 9000 miles Ford needs to put the tow hitch on still How much is involved in this?

In a nut shell, the max trailer weight can be anywhere from 2840 lbs. to 5680 lbs. with a 4.0L, and the combined vehicle and trailer weight rating can be as high as 9500 lbs. This all depends on the transmission, and rear axle ration that your truck has.
I would venture to say that no matter which combo you have, towing a Mustang on an average open car trailer shouldn't be a problem so long as the proper hitch and trailer brakes are used.
