Need Math Help - 32" tires, Inaccurate speedo for 20K miles = how many real miles?
I'm looking at a 2001 XLT 2WD.
The guy put a 5.5" Lift on it and 32" tires on it. He says the tires have been on there for "about 15,000 - 20,000" miles. The speedo is wrong, so basically I'm wondering what the real mileage on that truck would be. Thanks in advance. Also, he said he has a Jet chip on it, I haven't really read anything good about Jet, would this actually damage the Ranger in any way? |
When I put 32" tires on my truck the speedo and odometer were actually more accurate than the 29" stockers. Go figure that one out....There's a bunch of calculators to figure that out though on TRS.

my stocks are off to i actualy go 4mph slower than it shoes so it kinda works out for me :)

The truck has "32" tires now which are actually about 31.5~31.7" diameter when new. The originals were probably 235/75R15 which have a 28.9" diameter. You can verify the original tire size by checking the sticker on the DS door jamb.
15000 indicated x (31.7/28.9) = 16453 actual 20000 indicated x (31.7/28.9) = 21938 actual |
My speedo reads 3mph FASTER then i actually am going. I have 265's so go figure. Its good for me because in reality im driving slower
|
Mine reads 57 at 55mph

My 96 has 32s and I checked it with a GPS. At 55 on the speedo the GPS said 64.

Wierd, I actually go slower with speed. Maybe because I took my speedometer needle off :-)
Let's just say I don't get speeding tickets and feel like i drive fast. |
