Need some suggestions
So for christmas I got a certificate for 500 bucks towards my truck. Whatever I want. Only problem is I have no clue what I want. So I am looking for some suggestions on what to do.
I have been toying with the idea of the following, New axle (like FX4 8.8 or something) Bilstein shocks Exhaust.. Thats about it, my truck is only a 4 banger so I know theres not much performance to gain from it. Any other suggestions would be awesome, and pics are a big help too. Thanks guys. |
put it in the bank and save for a different truck?
maybe some put off maintness? [sp?] |
Yea I do need to have some maintance done. Change diff fluid and maybe some bushings..
Would a regular mechanic be able to install my hitch and tachometer and change out the differential fluid? Or would I need to take it to a custom shop? |
um yes they can do it all OR you could do it... not that hard.. hardest thing will be the tach

the hitch should just bolt right up to preexsiting holes and changing your diff fluid shouldn't be hard at all, i have to do mine in a few weeks so if you dont do it by then let me know and i can put together photos to help you with it |
Sure Pictures would be awesome.
The Hitch does bolt right up but im having problems getting things unbolted. Need a 1 inch socket to fit the bolts that are in there. |
use that money to buy some tools and do those things on your truck
btw i think its a 21mm the biggest on the back of the frame. |
bed liner??

Craftsman FTW! Sears =) |
How much do those usually run? and what kind of set should I look into getting? I mean like size and all that?
|
Craftsman tools are good except the phillips head screw drivers, they strip real easy. I'd go with a set of leather seats or something like that.
|
Yea I was thinking of a new set of seats, like the 2 tone cloth ones. Where do you guys usually go for those? Craigslist? Ebay? Would a set of 2003 and later bolt right into my 2000?
|
i feel that craftsman is the top dog in tools. if i were you i would put the money in the bank and sit on it a bit til you know what you want to do with it.

Just an idea. If u go to a junk yard or maybe on ebay, find a new gauge cluster that has a tach from another ranger or explorer. Installation is very easy. Take the two bolts from ur radio housing (bolts are 7mm). disconnect the radio and power outletand remove housing. Take three bolts off the top of the gauge housing which are also 7mm. disconnect the headlight switch and dimmer switch and remove housing.un-bolt gauge and disconnect the wires and replace with new gauge and put everything back together.

I usually go with craftsman, they are a top brand, and lifetime guaranteed, and there is always a sears around. Ohhh, and Kmart sells craftsman now as well.
I love buying new tools, take care of them and they will last you your whole life. |
