really BAD sound. HELP?

my front end is making a horrible squeaking noise. i know the boots on the ball joints were riped so could that be it? it does it really bad when i sit still and turn the wheel. or going in a straight line w/ any bumps at all. it all the sudden makes a grinding/squeaking sound and did it right after i went off roading a little, it was sorta muddy. this is my only vehicle so i need to find the problem fast. any advice?

Ball joints, tie rod ends and sway-bar bushings would be my area of interest.

would the ball joints make loud noises when you turn the wheel if the truck is just sitting still?

Ball joints wont make the noise if the truck is sitting still, if the ball joints are bad they make a real distinct "Clack" sound as you go over a bump. As far as grinding goes....look under your truck for shiny spots, thats where something is rubbing against something else. Take a can of brake cleaner to your rotors and pads, re-grease the BACK of your brake pads, check your tie rods.

If your ball joint boots are torn, get new ones A.S.A.P because now your ball joints are exposed directly to whatever your tire picks up and throws at them.

alrite, i dont know how to exlplain, but i have it too. It comes and goes for me but if you look under your front end your "Lower swing arms???" where they connect to "the frame???" there is a rubber bushing, mine is gone on the passenger side.
