Need Technical Information

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT with about 186000 miles. It started getting a skip. I took it to the Mechanic shop they replaced the Sparks plugs and wires Core pack twice. Once they have it running again, about a month to two months later the skip returns..any Idea?

Manual trans or automatic?
