The neverending search for a new vehicle...

Well the accident left me jobless in addition to truckless which makes it hard to get a new vehicle so used looks like the way to go.

Im looking at the 2000 Ranger 4x4 has 91K miles on it though :( seems pretty high what you guys think?

BlkTremor02 07-26-2005 08:14 AM

Ask Kelly for some help at Bartow Ford! That is where she got her truck, and gets maintenance on her truck for free, hahaha...But, ask her and she could prolly bring that price down a lot maybe!!!!!!!! Worth a shot!

FLPanther 07-26-2005 08:17 AM

I don't have a way to get in touch with her tho :( and we are looking at it today :P

ranger024x4 07-26-2005 08:19 AM

goood luck

gatorblue92 07-26-2005 08:26 AM

i think it looks good... good luck with it

LILBLUE04FX4L2 07-26-2005 08:57 AM

a 2000 vehicle with 91k miles is a bit high
one good side to that would be if they were highway miles
not as stressful on the vehicle as local miles with all the stop and go
average mileage per year is between 12-15k
check the brake pedal for wear
also the floor mats and other inside items like steering wheel and shifter (if manual)
more local milage would show wear on this pieces
lots of hood chips (front nose and top) is a sign of highway mileage

Shalafi49 07-26-2005 09:01 AM

Ty, when today? I'm with Brian..Kelly could probably help.

FLPanther 07-26-2005 10:03 AM

Lemme know if you notice any nice used Miatas there (90-94ish.) I'm looking for one for Kara.

shadyluke 07-26-2005 08:49 PM

I wonder why a 2000 would have a set of edge plus wheels on it? I recommend a carfax report on anything used.

Same could be said about any truck on this site, why does it have done whats been done to it.
There is barely a Ranger on here, yours included, that doesn't have something changed becuse the owner feels like it, not because its been wrecked

Swoop1156 07-26-2005 09:09 PM

R-F delivers! Not just pizza.

Your probably right. The owner mostly likely had the tear drops and got frustrated with the price of tires for a 16" rim and got their hands on a set of edge plus wheels.

However the carfax report I recommend for any used vehicle not just because of the wheels being changed. In 90k miles vehicles go through a lot. Itz a sharp looking truck tho

lilbass 07-26-2005 09:35 PM

Yeah but carfaz ain't always gonna be right, it goes by the vin and if you take it to somebody who don't report service/damages accodin to the vin then you'll never know. Just like one of my friends flooded his dodge. Had a friend totally rebuild it inside and out. To this very day, if you run a carfax on it, you will never know what happened to it.

Swoop1156 07-26-2005 09:52 PM

CarFax is for anything that the police were involved in, hence the accident report and VIN acquisition. My Splash came back with a minor front accident, but the guy told my dad about it. All that happened is that he rear-ended a trailer hitch.

FLPanther 07-27-2005 09:54 AM

Well thanks everyone for the help, but i knew all along that it was hopeless. I was inbetween jobs when I got in my wreck and so I am jobless at the moment. I need a car to get and keep a job, but I need a job to get the car :(

Lots of older Rangers fairly cheap, maybe find a decent 96 or 97 thats in good shape, they're out there.
And you Florida peeps seem to have quite the network going, bet you'd find some help to get it up to standards pretty quick.

FLPanther 07-28-2005 02:48 PM

Well my parents helped me out as much as they could. We went to a buy here pay here and got a *gasp* Chevy Malibu is pretty good my dad is a mechanic so he test drove it

easy-goin 07-28-2005 03:17 PM

Ya gotta do what ya can! now that you got the vehicle situation under control, you'll soon have the job situation fixed, then you'll be back in a Ranger in no time. Keep in touch!

Gearhead61 07-28-2005 03:26 PM

Just don't get too used to that Chevy... :smirk: Glad you've got yourself some sort of transportation you weren't born with!
