new box and antenna mount!

so i called this guy who had the box on craigslist today, and five minutes later i go and pick it up, like 5 miles away mind you, brand new for $150!. seriously! i still cant believe after all that searcing there is a guy down the freaking road that had a brand new toolbox. as far as the mount goes, i used the old mounting bracket and kind of did a makeshift alon lol. i couldnt find any good brackets at the local truck stops so i just made the old one work for now. NOW, my questions, 1. do i paint the box black the continue the look, OR do i just keep it bc it needs somethin other than yellow and black? 2. exactally how do i ground the antenna? like give me details from where i have mine mounted now. also like exactally where i stick the ground wire inbetween(theres like the antenna then screw on piece, then plastic gromet, then bracket, then male end etc...) 3. ahh idk gimme suggestions lol.

anyways im going shopping tomorrow, so give me like the type of wire i need, 10 ga. i assume, and anything else, i want to have an actual LIST so its easy for me lol. but watever on with the pics.

hoping to hear from fx4_wannabe on this one

^ hehe =]

apparently he bought it for a friend, then his friend like died, or wrecked his truck or something lol anyways he ended up not giving it to his friend, and it obviously wont fit his full size =]

ps. there was also a red bike in front AND beside my truck at the time, so lets drop the whole orange thing and maybe ONE person can help me out.

i wasnt asking for worship? all i wanted was some help one the questions, as stated above.

Trent, ya i hate when that heppens lol, oh and u had to drill yours in? mine had drill-less mounts, theyre like clamps that the box bolts into.

idk tho Marie, i think you must be high or something, look at my avatar, then look at yours....

My avatar doesn't show the true color of my truck... it looks different in almost every pic and I did a side-by-side and they are REALLY close... I realize you're truck is yellow, I'm not an idiot... just pointing out an odd observation.

I know nothing about CBs so I'm not gonna say anything. Paint the box black... also the threads been open for 1 hr on Christmas so wait till tomorrow morning and you'll be flooded with advice/opinions....

No I didn't drill mine in, mine came with those clamp mounts too. I put 2 eye bolts in the top so I can still use my tie downs, had to drill 2 holes for those.

ok...

Thetruck looks grabber orange. end of story. nobody's on crack.....just your garage and camera are. lol.

Ok....

Show me as pic of how that bracket mounts to bed. I think its fine as long as that bracket is touching bare metal of the bed. I vote you've done fine so long you are making metal to metal contact for a good groud.

If you want real help, don't post pictures

As Shanathon already said, as long as it's touching bare metal, you're golden, much like your truck in that picture. You're right, Marie must be high, cause your truck looks Gold in that picture. Almost purple, actually.

I'm pretty sure he used self tapping screws so it should have metal to metal contact.

nice find and paint the box black =]

as for the CB, i dont have one, but a good ground is metal to metal. if you have a test light you can use that to find one.

I'd paint the box black, tie it in with the theme of the truck. Everyone's right as far as metal to metal for a good ground... You shouldn't have to worry about the paint I've had K40's and Little Will Mag bases that grounded out fine on my 96..

what material is the bracket made out of??

My only concern with the mount set up is that it doesn't have enough give if the antenna takes a good hit from something.. I'd install a spring with that particular antenna or go with a metal whip. I like the K40 with the quick disconnect feature.. worked really well on my setup.. just a thought..
