ohc install question about the braket

ohc install question about the braket

ok so i get an ohc today and i dont understand how to cut and bend the bracket to make it work in my truck im a little confused and i have read the car domain install and i still dont get it. so can some one take detailed pictures of what you need to do to the bracket to install i just dont understand and i want one so bad

You don't have to cut it and you don't always have to bend it. Its hard to explain you kind of just put it in and mess with it until it looks right lol

read that "how to" carefully. it DOES tell you where to drill into the roof of the truck and there is no bending!

yeah the roof of the truck not where to cut new slots like he did have you installed one yet?

Hey check it out...Put the OHC where you think it needs to go, then fit the bracket on there and replace the ohc where it needs to be....carefullt take the OHC off and leave the bracket in place and mark the slots with a marker then drill them biitches out.....Also the bracket is supposed to slip inside the headliner toward the windshield about 1 1-2, 2" okay...I mess mine all up when i started i have numerous holes drilled, then i finally got it

what i did was get it centered between the visors. and that little tab in the middle of the OHC that slipped into a slot on the exploder i made the edge of that line up with the lip on the hood of the truck that is right behind the wind shield. I thought of idea for future installers: If you notch the holes that are in the bracket for mounting it to the roof side to side then if its off center you can just loosen the screws slide the bracket over then tighten the screws back down.

The Ranger roof didnt change. For the pics you want someone would have to drop their headliner, which I highly doubt anyone will do.

Attach the bracket to the OHC. Get a marker/Sharpie, line up the OHC on your roof untill it is where you want (spend time on this). Mark the two screw holes in the "sun glasses" opening in the rear of the unit. Now you have to marked spots, align OHC to these marks and drill your starter holes. I used self-taping screws after a pilot hole.

For the slots I drilled 3 small (like 1/8") holes side-by-side. I used a large flathead screw driver to pry the slots wide enough and used VERY short screws to attach the front of the bracket. The front window/roof brace is very close to the roof skin so if you drill through that, you're gonna be a very happy person.

If you have a sunroof type model you're gonna have to eye it (mostly how I did mine) and pray for the best. Most people can do it from Ne3lz cardomain How To.

EDIT - Or pull the OHC apart, use the trim/base piece (outside ring thing interior color) and use this as a template type deal.

didnt think about using the ring i guess the part i was so confused on is i thought i had to bend the bracket and stuff

Shouldn't have to bend/modify anything. The hardest part for me was positioning the bulk of wires from the OHC, Explorer lighted sunvisors, alarm input and wires from my A-Pillar pod under the headliner without them buldging up the liner.

Just remember to double, tripple and quadruple check the positioning of the OHC and length of screws. No point in rushing/cutting corners to have a bad turnout.
