not sure if its a law or not here, but if possible i always move a lane over just to be safe.

It's been common practice and law here in Ontario for years. Now it's being enforced big time. Guess the lack of experienced drivers has caught up with us. All those items that now distract drivers from actually driving....LOL

I like reading about people getting fined, it wakes us all up.

most states have had this law for sometime, california adopted it recently and i think its good ... i always move over for stuff on the shoulder, emer vehicle or not.
