Should have just pulled the silencer. Also i doubt you gained any power. Its probably just in your head. Just wait until you are sitting in traffic. It will feel like you have no power.

Eh. I still doubt you got any extra power. Maybe like 1 or 2 horsepower.

Do you have a 3.0 or 4.0? Your profile says SOHC 3.0 which doesn't exist in Rangers.

Cold air kits are a waste of money on a stock ranger engine unless you get it tuned for it.

So, to do the "swiss-cheesed" mod, do you drill above or below the filter? Drill up above it, right? On the cover?

ehhh? o.O

No, you drill it out on the very bottom - or on the sides BELOW the filter.. You need that filter there for a very good reason - and if you start pulling in unfiltered air, you may as well kiss your engine good by the first drive down a dusty road.

Sorry man, I totally over-thought about it while reading about it so much.

I'm calling BS on the fact that it made a huge difference. There's no way in hell that drilling a couple holes in going to make your engine start sucking in CRAZY amounts of power.

This is total bull. Even removing the air silencer doesn't add any power. Just more sound. You already have more air coming into the air box then the engine will even use under normal driving. By drilling some hole you are not doing anything useful for the engine. Just more places for water to come up and get your filter wet
