New Offroad Park In Planning...

Hey Guys,

All of you probally know there is a lack of legitimate places to go wheelin' and I know its more fun when you have a chance of getting caught, but alot of places are starting to really crack down on illegal wheelin'. So I got a new way to fix this. I am going to be starting to look for sponsors, land, and help creating a 300 site campground, with attached off-road park. Pay for the Week or Weekend and get unlimited fun with 20 - 30 acres of mapped trails, mud fields, swamps, hill climbs, rock fields, rock climbs, and of course don't forget the water hazzards :biggthump . What I am looking for now is #1 land, the cheaper the better, the more wooded the better, and I am hoping for an unusable piece of hillside so we have some rough terrain. If anyone knows of any land or sees anything on the eastern side of PA let me know as for I will go look at it. Also if you know someone getting rid of or is willing selling 20 - 30 acres of farm/wooded land let me know and I will deffinately hit them up. Either that or Barter or Buisness Partner with them. #2 I need sponsorships by many companys to pay for the cost to create the campsites, build a campstore, and offroad store as well as create the trails and keep them maintained. I was thinking like $15,000 a year for a buisness sponsorship and banners and parts can be advertised all over the park. #3 is I need participation by everyone to help gather resources for the park, if you can get a free load of stone to a helping hand creating it once we secure a location and plans. This is a 5 year plan here very undetailed, but I would like some idea's from offroaders and see if anyone has any suggestions. I was thinking something like 3 or 4 marked trails with varied intensity, have them cross at several spots so you don't have to stay on only 1 trail, so you can really free flow it. I was thinking location of South Eastern PA, Maybe Mid Eastern PA, or even North Eastern PA somewhere close to the applician mountains so we have some sharp terrain and flats where everyone can have fun. Let me know your thoughts, and idea's also if you would like to sponsor this I will gladly accept donations, and sponsorships from anyone as the park can have an offical Ranger-Forum Weekend with nobody else there. 20 acres of trails means over 60 miles of trail. thats one hell of a weekend, We may need to put a gas station on the list of things that the park contains.

Currently Planned:

4 - (10-15 mile) Varied Intensity Crossing Trails
100 - No Hookup Rustic Campsites, w/ Overflow Parking for Trailers and Rigs
100 - Partial Hookup Rustic Campsites (Electricity), w/ Overflow Parking for Trailers and Rigs
100 - Full Hookup Rustic Campsites (Electricity, Water, Sewer), w/ Overflow Parking for Trailers and Rigs
1 - Campstore
1 - Offroad Shop
Multiple Shower Houses / Bathroom Facilities
1 - Multiple Bay Garage to Fix Broken or Mod Existing Rigs. ( Fully Equip. w/ Lift, Air, So Forth )
1 Overflow Parking Lot for Visitors and Extra Rigs, Vehicles, and Anything Else (1 Large Parking Space within Sites for Rigs, Campers, and RV's)

Give some feedback on the idea, and let me know of anything I may be missing or should add... As well as any idea's on Land, Funding and so forth.

Thanks!!

great idea, but i hope you just hit powerball. the land will be the cheapest part of this project...

sounds like a multi million dollar project...

20-30 acres is nothing.

you would need wayyyy more than that.

you couldn't do half of what you would want in 20-30 acres.

maybe 1000 acres...

You have some good ideas, but realisticly i dont think it will happen

dsef82 Nov 14, 2005 11:19 PM

the last ohv area i went to had 72,000 acres and don't forget to check about insurance

http://www.coalcreekohv.com/

there is the site if you want to look at it for ideas

Insurance is an issue, but that is covered. as far as size, I would like to obtain more land, but I think as everyone said, money will be an issue. 20 Acres is a nice piece of land to start out on, a campground will only take 5 - 7 acres, and leave plently for a trail or two to start out with.

GregsEdge Nov 15, 2005 06:41 PM

where will the trails lead to? a circle? back to the campsite? lol

Trevelyn1015 Nov 15, 2005 06:58 PM

seriously, we are digging for a 7 acre tank(pond/lake/whatever) at my uncle's ranch(a few hundred acres)... 300 campsites in it? yeah, not happening...

go look at a 20 acre pasture.

it's not a whole lot.

SuperGildo@RRP Nov 15, 2005 07:04 PM

im with xtian. one of our ranches is about 90 acres. while nice, its not much ride around room. with 300 campsites theres not gonna be a ton of trail options...

Illegally off-roading is fawking stupid. It's not fun, it's trespassing and it's the morons that do this that add fuel to the enviro's fire on our off-road sport.

The place I work at is 165 acres (plus a few wooded acres across the street, that we're allowed to go on) and I get bored when I take the 4 wheeler out. I can't imagine having a campsite, as well as trails on that small amout of land, and actually have fun at it.

Wharton is 110,000 acres just for referance.

Brian,

If you are looking to make some kind of Park on 20 - 30 acres you will have better chances just focusing on a day use and event based set up. Get yourself a small bull dozer with a scoop. And then use large rocks, logs and concrete tubs to make obstacle courses. You could start having competitions and see if sponsors will give products and swagg as prizes. Once you have established a name and business then you might be abel to go up to some large OHV park.

definately a better idea. the cost would be somewhat low for this kind of project and would yeild a lot of fun times...

50 campsites would be all you need even if it was 200 acres....

Gearhead61 Nov 15, 2005 10:25 PM

That sounds like a great Kyle! We ought to get something like that around here.

Of course we do have spring creek, which i still have yet to visit :puppy_dog
