new products to try

first product: valvoline next gen oil. i was a tad skeptical on the whole half recycled half new oil thing. but i have heard nothing but rave reviews about this product. so i was wondering if anyone has used this product. if so what did you think. or what should i watch for or should i return it? second product is zmax micro lube. two bottles, one for the oil and one for the fuel. supposed to preserve, clean, and enhance the performance of your engine. gonna do an oil change tomorrow and going to add these products. hopefully clean up the engine a bit. so if anyone has any opinions or comments lets hear it.

I would use nextgen...if it was cheaper, but its the same price as non-recycled oil, so whats the point. I wouldn't use zmax if you bought it for me though.

They claim recycled oil is actually better, but then why do they only use 50% recycled oil. I don't get it.

zmax=snake oil. If it worked, why wouldn't every semi on the road come with it

Dino oil is Dino oil, I wont run anything less the full syn.

Can’t see why the truck would be quieter and running better ?
Oil, new or old, is oil so the engine should sound the same, unless Zmax has additives to quiet down the engine or the engien had a block oil passage and it cleared up ?

I used MaxLife in my last higher mileage Ranger and it worked OK, better than std oil (?), I do not know but I felt I was doing something to help.
Using ½ and ½ is a good green thing so if the person using it thinks it is better than that is all there is to it.

Why not try Valvoline ½ Synthetic Oil, not sure what it is called but that would use less Dino Oil too.

Or go full Synthetic, bear the price for the Environment.

I run Mobile 1, not sure of the overall quality but 6 qts and two motorcraft filter run, on sale, $35.
6k Oil and 3k Filter chgs, add some oil, or somewhere there about.
Cheaper than std oil and filter every 3k.

i run synthetic, and it turns out to me more economical than running conventional... do the math:
5 qt of Pennziol at around 5.00/qt plus a filter= around30-35 bucks...running 2750 on a change and no longer for fear of sludge buildup as the oil was cooked at that point...
5qt of Shaeffer's supreme 9000 at 7.25/qt and a filter= about 45 bucks... running 7500 miles on a change with a lot of life left on the oil which would suggest i could go maybe 10,000 miles on a change...

it's actually cheaper to run synthetic, even with me needing to add a qt over the life of the oil due to leakage...

I will run 15k on full syn, maybe im out of my mind.

Do not use the High Mileage labeled oil. It has seal expanders than can causes seals to swell and eventually split and you will leak oil if you didn't before.

you're not... if the oil isnt sludged, there is no worry... reason i change so often is i work the engine almost too hars on a daily basis... i mean, Pennzoil was almost sludge at 3000 miles... that's how hard i work it...

in keep to the conventional, syn would seep through the seals at my trucks age. and the zmax is helping the perfomance of my truck. motor is runnin quiet, and smooth. less chatter. and it accelerates so much smoother. awesome results for 30 bucks. wouldn't change a thing.

mine started to, but then the leak has slowed almost to a stop... it's like the oil is repairing the seals...

Only reason syn will seep though seals if the seals are shot and the sludge clogging the leak is washed away. Syn will not damage seals or gaskets at any age.

My brother tried the Next Gen oil in his 3.4 Grand Am, and then the filter was all sludged up on the next oil change.

I run 10k miles an oil change with Amsoil, no problems at all.
