stockers? Ok, so far it's AAL's and tires. Don't i need more than the coils for the lift? I thought lifts came in kits!? Are there any links for kits? I printed out the link for the AAl's and tires. What else would i need? Sorry i just can't keep up with y'all, lol...

Those are the only 3 things i need?? Now all i need to know is if my bf can assemble all this himself or if i need to bring it somewhere to get done, lol. That'll suck if he has to assemble it for his own birthday!! Oh well, maybe i can get prettied up and some guy do it for a small amount of cash... lol. Sorry, that's my girly self coming out. Anyways, back to manly stuff... So, the coils need to be put on first, then the alignment comes second and then the AAL's and tires go on 3rd and 4th, correct?

Well quest51210, he's bad with spending money! I bet he'll just spend the 700 on the just the tires themselves. That's why he has me to keep him in check... lol

you have options, you can do all those three, but it will be expensive.

its

spindles or coils

if you get spindles you need the AAL and Shackle
if you get coils you need just the AAL

if you get spindles you can fit 32s
if you get coils you can fit 31s

That's right. You can order them all, get em in and then get a shop to install everything. but keep in mind that that's going to cost you too. Hopefully maybe you know someone or can get a break on the labor cause it's usually not cheap.

Or...just give everything to your BF and let him worry about it! lol At least he'll have all the parts he needs.

Where is middleburg FL?

As a fellow XLT 2wd ( same suspension as XL) I can assure that Beard's advice is correct vs the interjections of a few different members who are more familiar with Torsion bar or 4x4 suspensions set ups.

2" lift coils ( not spacers) and AAL is the way you wanna go and the cheapest next to Body lifts.

Also make sure you are taking into account the price of mounting and balancing the tires. And with tires, it is worth it to pay a little more if you find a shop with great customer service and warranty than to go cheap to come in under budget.

i believe so as well. With fabtech 2.5" coils, new upper arms are needed.

Hmmm. that could be a problem.

I've always planned on getting the whole kit with the new upper arms, but I never knew they were required.

IF its the same suspension as an XLT 31's will fit stock with no lift. my 2001 just did with 15x8's and 3.75" backspacing. you can do 2" coils and AAl's in the rear but IT IS NOT NEEDED!

I ran 31x10.5's on my 2002 XLT for 2 weeks before i put the spindles on. I did have aftermarket wheels (15x8's, can't remember the backspacing right now) and had to trim about 1/2 inch off of the front valance but it worked good. I drove about 400 miles in those 2 weeks and can't remember it rubbing while on paved roads.
