if you want that body style look into the 93-97 years.. but you can get a gen 4 98-00 pretty cheap too with the 2.5 lima with somewhat more power than the 2.3

I'll agree to that style also, but might I recommend the v6 4.0L? I HAD a '93 XLT V6 4.0L 4x2 ex. cab 5 speed and loved it. Loved it up until a 16 y.o. kid blew a stop sign and took it away from me. There's times when I wish I would have looked for a used ranger within the above years, but I wanted a "new" truck that was still under factory warranty which resulted in me finding the truck in my sig: my 04 FX4 Level II. She had 2871 miles when I get her on April 7, 2005. As of tonight she's at approximately 35,370.

you got plenty of time to find a truck if your planning like a year ahead like it seems..

98-00 are the best years although Im a little biased but I would love to own a Yellow Gen3 Splash ext cab 4.0 5speed.

Only thing about gen3 is a tad cheaper to lower 3/4 but about even in price to 5/5 it as a 98+
