I know if your truck is not setup to run it all the time and you use it a lot you can get a ping whenever you go back to regular gas.

You can run it fine, but do be weary if you go back to 87.

And it has a higher octane rating, so its more resistant to burning.
As such it burns later in the cycle thus giving you more power.

There is nothing in 93 Octane gas that will yield Better mileage. It is simply a higher octane rating. If your truck is stock you are wasting your money. The only way it could improve your mileage is if it is ethanol free and regular has ethanol in it. You also could destroy your cats by running too much octane for long periods of time. “premium” gas is not better than Regular, it is a just the octane rating and most cars made post 76 do not require anything higher than 87. Heck there has been studies that showed Premium gas tends to be dirtier cause it tends to remain in the underground tanks longer since it is not purchased as much.

You said it perfectly. If you use a high quality gas, BP, Shell, etc instead of a cheap gas like Hess, Murphy's etc your truck will run just as good. 93 is a waste if your truck is tuned for 87 and its actually bad for the vehicle over time.

Normally if its cheaper than the major companies theres a reason why. From doing some googling it seems like a lot of people have had problems with pinging from WaWa gas but then it cleared right up when they switched to Chevron and Shell

It all depends where you live. Here in NC you can find a lot of places that don't, go over to Tenn and its everywhere.

High-octane gas is formulated to burn slower than regular, making it less likely to ignite without benefit of spark. The majority of vehicles are designed to run on regular gas, which is what the owner's manual tells you to use in a Ranger. Higher-performance vehicles often require midgrade or premium gas because their engines are designed for higher compression (higher compression = more power), and regular gas may cause knock. Using high-octane gas in a vehicle designed for regular accomplishes little except more rapid combustion of your money.

Valves will not rattle from Gasoline, They Rattle from being worn out. Rockers rattle (more likely than valves) from low oil pressure. Low octane can only cause Knocking and pinging (pre ignition or Flash firing) Which is probably what you are hearing, If that is happening in a bone stock ranger, you probably have latent issues, Carbon build up causing Pre ignition Etc.

Not true.

Octane is resistance to detonation. The speed & power of the flame front has nothing to do with octane.

Shell has nitrogen enriched gas now, so I guess you can fill your spare tire up with nitrogen and run a tube from it to your intake and viola....cheap man's NOS....lol.....lol

Seriously tho, only use regular gas in your truck.
