ATTN: n3elz or other 31spline drum brake owners

Found this on ebay, not 100% sure, but this might be exactly what you need to swap a fx4 lxl 2 31spline rear to a disc brakes

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-8-D...rdZ1QQtcZphoto

This is an auction for the backing plates(they hold the calipers to the axle) with the emergency brake hardware and calipers from a 2000 Ford Explorer. Also included (not pictured) are the bolts and nuts to bolt the backing plates to the axle, no other hardware included. I can't guarantee the calipers since I haven't tried them but should be good, the Explorer only had 38,000 miles when removed. Buyer to pay 14.00 shipping cost. See my other auctions for some more 8.8 stuff, thanks

hope this helps someout out

I may be wrong, but I think the pattern is wrong. The plate on the tube is still Ranger drum pattern, while the Exs have a diff pattern for the discs.

Not on the 31 spline, Carl. As it turns out, they are the same pattern as the Ex. They won't work with 28 spline rears.

Thanks for the heads-up, Scott!

Well that's a no brainer upgrade for anyone with FX4s! If I had know that John I could have grabbed you a set from Harry's. I've seen quite a few in the bone yard.

Here's almost everything you need from an Explorer for $236 shipped. Once again, 31-spline FX4 only.

I was going to call you, Carl -- but free funds are scarce right now so I didn't. I know you were going up this week sometime.

Nope, I'll be there tomorrow. Just the Pennsburg, not the "super Harry's". did you go to the Pennsburg yet?

I will be hitting Harry's in the next few weeks though. I'll be coming home to go hunting, but can't hunt on Sundays in PA so one of those weekends Harry's/centralia will be on my way home.

I'll look for your stuff too John.

Okay, Carl. If you can get the parts for the brakes in the $50 range or less, I can do it. It would be nice if you found a set where the discs themselves are still good, but I'll take whatever you can get, lol.

No, I haven't made it to Pennsburg yet. I meant to go last weekend to get in on the sale, but something came up and I couldn't go. I'm going to keep an eye on the specials tho just in case.
