So...my truck went for a swim

No pics yet, they are on Kevins camera...

Water line was almost to the door handle, water was over the pass seat, my bed was under, my d side water was up to the bottom of my expo console.

The story: short and sweet, I coudln't see anything and I feel into a HUGE sand rut. I thought I was too close to a set of trees, but I was way far away from them.

Needless to say, I'll report the damage...

Interior is soaked, thats no problem, I have rubber floors and if my seats are ruined, I need new ones anyways. Engine is fine (it was gargling but I'm just glad I didn't suck up anything, I cut off the engine when the water was OVER my headlight...), all the electrical is fine (windows go up, etc). I haven't found any problems except...

MY TRUCK WON"T STOP!!!!! It has 0 brakes. It was fine on the first two times I hit the brakes on the way home, then I had to use the ebrake the rest of the time. I'm having a mechanic look at it today (friend of mine) and we will probably just swap that 8.8, bc my 7.5 is shot. Its making all noises and everything (definetly water in the fluid).

It's my rear brakes, all I get is air, I think the line got nocked loose (the rear line where it goes from the hard line to the soft one) because it's very rocky where I was. We'll see, I just woke up and I didn't even look at the truck yet, I just have to clean it.

All in all, it was so awesome!!! It was a blast offroading besides for that. This happened at like 6ish, something like that, but before that, we were ripping it up. Kevin concurred a hill that was tough to walk up, it was awesome!

When he gets home from work, I'll have the pics. I'm just praying my brakes work, I had to cancel the Tampa trip b/c of it, I'm mad about that, but right now I have no brakes!!!

edit: My gf dropped her cellphone in the water too

edit: pics are up

Kevin has more

Brakes are too over rated anyway

Sounds like a blast, can't wait to see the pics.

Edit: Sucks about the cell.

Ricky just cause you have vynal floor you still have Jute underneathe it. its the sound detoning padding. it retains water like some crazy sponge, you have to remove the vynal foor all of it and let it dry, if you leave it in, it will retain moistier for a suprisingly LONG time and it will rust and root out your floor pans.. trust me it happened to my F-150...

Haha, oh yea, floor is coming out in a few mins. I was just saying at least I didn't have carpet.

The brakes...it's definetly just the rear, but I can't stop for crap. The line stripped off of the rear (must have been a rock) but it looks ok. I just have to swap the other axle in and it will be fixed. There is a nice little rip in the rubber so maybe thats where it came from.

Fluids will be changed ASAP.

I just ordered front and rear hitches and I'm jumpin on shocks right now (christmas money FTW!!!). I already ordered a new tow rope and torsion bars. Gettin ready for bigger tires WOOOTTT

I am laughing about putting my truck under water, but when you see the pics, it's just insane. The water was up to the door handle (I thought it wasn't) but it was steady at about 2" under the handle. The water was coming in from the door handle...

My pass side got the wetest (jump seat was under) and the d side didn't get touched, no papers got ruined, nothing.

I think it's kinda funny

I want to SAS once I pay it off more, I don't want my DD to be all cut up...for now. After last night, I wish I had it, I could have gone through the entire hole if I was 6" higher, on bigger tires, and 4x4.

A 70's f150 ranger goes through it on 38's and it's submerged, but it makes it though, I won't say no problem, but it goes through.

wow look out for those lakes next time.

That must have scared the crap outta you when the headlights disappeared. I know the last time I was out I hit a hole and then it was dark cause the lights were under water.

haha, I wish...I'm trying to get my suspension up enough (just got new tbars and shocks) to get a final measurement. Right now, I'm too close for 37's, but after the tbars I may be OK...we'll see.

I'll need new tires after SAS anyway (another year or so)

ya know, you can take a car, and drive it off a bridge and totally submerge it, and the power windows and door locks will still work under water. Right now your truck my run fine, but in a couple of years is when you will most likely be looking at MAJOR electrical problems. water gets into EVERYTHING and starts to corrode/rust terminals and everything else. If I were you, id be looking to get rid of the truck with in the next year or so, BEFORE the problems start.

MOST vehicals that have flood damage have electrical problems.

at least your electircal is fine i flooded my 06 2mounths after i got it and everything was shot i could turn the key off and take it out and it would still be running so we cleand everything for 3 days and took it back to the dealer and said it was f-in up and they said there was a recall on the fuse box seal and moisture was getting in and shorting everything out so they replaced everything

Awesome story! You're very blessed that the motor didn't get damaged. You should be extending your vent tubes if you haven't already.

Looking forward to some pics!
