news from the beach meet

Me neither. I'm more thinking of an offroading situation where the truck gets damaged. I've worried about that -- how would insurance handle it? I suppose I ought to call my ins. co. and find out what WOULD happen.
It's a little different than a tree falling because when we offroad, we CHOOSE to be in a situation like that. I just don't know how they look at that.

I bet they can deny your claim. Never really thought about it that way, but didn't a CA member have his ins co deny fixing his truck cuz of his lift and front bumper. Its a scary thought tho especially if you have someone else in the truck and they get hurt. If your ins co denys coverage they can sue you.

I'm not trying to be negative at all Kyle, but if you get the feeling that I am, say something and I will edit this post.
Due to the extensive damage of the truck insurance will total it, there are a lot of things that you won't be able to know about until it get's checked out in a shop. I'm not speaking out of my a$$, I've gone through this with my last truck as some of you know. My truck rolled three times at about 40mph and had slightly less damage to the cab and body than your truck did, which is another thing that get's me thinking "why?" My insurance wouldn't even get a quote to fix it, so I'm not sure how your's will react. There was a LOT more wrong with it after looking at it extensively than appeared when the truck was brought home. Now, if you want it fixed with a new cab and all new parts (if they would fix it) it will be a lot. That kind of damage is very expensive to fix. I had the same thing in mind about my last truck but thankfully my friends and family convinced me to let it go and now I can see it would've been more trouble than it's worth. Now, if they total it, you still will have the option of a buy-back, plus a check for the worth of the truck minus some for the worth of the actual truck after the accident. You can always buy it back, fix it yourself, and keep going with it, but you will be driving on a salvage title and there might be some problems that develop later on. I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes it's better to start over, BUT don't let what hapenned to me happen to you. I basically let them take all of my aftermarket parts (which is illegal for them to do without compensation for them) because my parents would not help me fight to get them back. Make sure if they do total it, you do get the parts back than can be reused for another truck. I got jacked and now my parents are starting to see that they did too, don't let them push you around on it, make sure you get what you want, both parts-wise and coverage-wise. I'm not writing this to offend, just as a fellow member that has been in this situation before, so like I said above, if you find it innapropriate tell me.
You guys are both very blessed to be for the most part unharmed and we are all thankful of that. If you want to talk to me some more just get in touch with me on aim, I'd be glad to talk or whatever if you need to, sometimes it helps. Stay cool Kyle, you'll get back in there soon.

sucks about your truck kyle, i would prolly cry.
hope she survives and will ride agian
a friend of mine rolled his 250 in a field playin around, hit a rut, the only thing that saved his butt was he said he was farming and his 250 was registered as a farm vehicle.

I'm interested how the insurance company handles this. Anybody had a similar incident and made a claim?

Well the beach is actually a state highway, it's just not a paved one. So technically I wasn't off-road. It was a hazardous driving situation which I failed to compensate for correctly.
And as for the wheel losing the bead, the wheel that actually lost the bead was the passenger side, and i flipped over the driver's side. That bead came off only because of the rolling.
Trent, I appreciate your post. I've had that thought in the back of my mind, and I've been going over what I would do in a scenario like that. As of now, I am hopeful, but not so much that I will be devastated when the verdict comes. I will accept whatever they say, but I'm not going to let them give me the shaft. I've got all the stock parts from the lift and everything, so if worst comes to worst... 2003 FX4 LII with manual sticks! = D
And I was travelling 25-30 mph.

All I can say is what I take as my motto wherever I go:
"Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best."
You have a good attitude Kyle, you'll come out of this just fine.

Hey Kyle,
As I'm sure you know by now, I have some of your beach stuff at my house right now. I can do two things with it at your command. 1) Leave it in our garage for you to pick up on your way home tomarrow with my mom or to store for a while, or 2) Pack it up in the minivan with my mom for when she picks you up tomarrow. Just tell me what to do. I also have some good glamor shots as well as some damage photos that i can post as soon as I make it back to Belton. Glad to see you made it safely to Huntsville.
P.S. Sleep with your eyes open if you are sleeping in the same house as Christian.

OUCH!
I believe kyle stated he was doing 25-30 and that the beach is a state highway, just unpaved. So insurance wise, couldn't you argue it was a road hazard? 25-30 doesn't sound like hazardous, reckless driving to me. Even given the environment.
I'm leaning towards Spitfire. I'd wait to see if they total it and for how much. If they do, and if the check is worthwhile, I'd start looking. Maybe for another 2001, or maybe something newer. The question is, can you afford a payment? State Farm gave me almost 5300 for my '93 ranger. KBB and NADA were quoting me top end at 4000-4200. My ranger wasn't top end, but it was damn close. I picked up my '04 FX4L2 for $16,000 in Alabama(they wanted $18751) plus TTL when it got here to NM (600 something). Ford wanted to finance me at 8.9%. When talking to my state farm rep, they asked who we were going to finance with and then he suggested we check state farm bank. I financed $9000 at 5.4% for 60 months(I believe, I know it's 5.something %). My payments are only $173/month. Just something to consider. I probably could have easily bought my '93 back and had a shop restore her, but I needed to let go. I needed to get rid of 2wd and get 4x4. Not necessarily just to have fun, but as a tool for 2 other hobbies I have, looking for reptiles and photography.....
Needed it for this!
Get well you 2! My accident looks like a joke compared to yours, but slamming into a '72 chevy at 35 because it blew a stop sign is no fun either. My neck still gets a little sore from time to time.
