Axle help

Hey guys,

Hoping one of you can help me out here.
Looking at a ranger I think I am going to go buy. I am hoping one of you will know if it has the 7.5 or the 8.8 axle.

It is a 1999 reg cab manual with the 3.0 splash trim.
I know it has a 3.55 open diff.

Sorry for the poor information but it is all I have to work with right now.

Thanks,
Fraser

I'd say it's a 7.5 but without an axle code or seeing a picture it's hard to tell 100%. You never know what could have been changed in 13 years either!

You can check the door jam sticker, if you know everything is stock on it. I'd still double check the axle tag, if the people replaced it after doing any work on it.

If you can send me a PM of the VIN I can run it. I work at a Ford dealer.
