no oil pressure

my cousin has a 1996 ranger 4.0. it has been sitting for bout 4-6 months. before he parked it it was running fine. he started it up last week nd he had no oil pressure and it started to smoke. he cant figure it out and he doesnt feel like takin it to the garage.. any suggestions?

The oil pressure sender probably just got gunked up. The smoke is probably condensation.

i dont think its condensation.

Did it smell like coolant or have color to it?

Maybe coulda frozen and cracked the block over the winter?

i dont think it had any smell. nd if it cracked the block would there be sum knockin noise?

cracked block usually shows up as water in the oil, oil in the water, and it could be eating coolant. if its eating coolant you will most likely see "steam" in the exhaust and it should smell like antifreeze, oil smoke is usually blueish in color. did you put fresh gas in it, if not that might account for the smoke if its bad. this might seem like a silly question, but did you check the fluids before starting? no oil no pressure.
