Holy crap ur second sentence is confusing as hell, u must be really french , use more commas maybe it'll be easier for us to under stand what u are trying to explain

bonez 07-11-2011 11:07 PM

lets trade shifters, i'll send you my regular shifter out of my 08 for the fx4 one.

Dirty Ranger 07-11-2011 11:11 PM

k , so u are saying the noise stops when u remove the 8 ball shifter knob , try gluing, the knob to the shifter , maybe thats where the noise is coming from

rangerpat 07-17-2011 10:50 PM

it feel like the shifter knob is too heavy ,so when i put my hand on it ,it stop .so i remove the shifter knob and it also stopped ,feel to me that it might come from lower than the shifter

rangerpat 07-17-2011 10:51 PM

sorry for my english ,ask question ,i really want to solve this probleme

Dirty Ranger 07-18-2011 10:31 AM

well, there is not much to a shifter , can u get maybe another shifter knob

rangerpat 07-18-2011 01:43 PM

i think there is nothing wrong with the shifter knob ,when i remove it ,i shake it well and no sound .on the shifter knob there is 2 bolt and everything is well tight, maybe there is some bushing to change i'll keep searching on the forum for a transmision shema ,because i don,t think it is the shifter .so now i'm looking for something in the tranny but i'm no good at this point

tech support please

Is the stick itself loose where it bolts to the stub?. look under the boot and you should be able to tell. Mine went loose in my XLT so it's possible.

rolsmojave3 07-23-2011 07:32 AM

Chrome shift lever? They all do it.

rangerpat 07-23-2011 11:00 PM

tanks i'll check if it's loose , but i don't think and what do mean about (Chrome shift lever? They all do it. ) can you explain what sound it's really make mine is pretty strong

rangerpat 07-26-2011 10:30 PM

nobody has a fx4 shifter sound problem ,if fx4 onwner can feed me back on this ,it can help , i think so.by the way, thanks for all your anwsers and my bottom bolts are correct and thight ,

i'll keep searching for that unsolved problem

rolsmojave3 07-27-2011 10:27 AM

Do you have a Chrome lever?

Dranger024 07-31-2011 07:25 PM

Didnt all FX4's have a chrome shifter?

rolsmojave3 07-31-2011 08:04 PM

I don't know if the 08's did or not, that's why I was asking him

punx8086 07-31-2011 08:36 PM

wow, i'll trade you my problems for your problems.....dude, not trying to be rude, but if you take the knob off and it stops or if you put your hand on it, then its the knob, doesn't get much easier than that......get a softer knob and glue it on......not really too complicated mate...lol

rangerpat 08-01-2011 01:10 AM

yes it is a chrome shifter ,simple not , all the shifter set up is factory ,out of ford and bought the truck brand new so dont think it is the know and i'm not looking for a temporary fix (no gluiiiiiiing iT's an 2008).everything aroung is stock .
no mod

rangerpat 08-01-2011 01:15 AM

looking for fx4 onwners to share whit me .or a ford tech, who has all ready know this before

jharley79 08-01-2011 06:07 AM

I have a 2002 FX4 and mine does it too. I think the weight of the knob combined with the angle in the shifter is putting a little extra pressure on the shift forks than you would have with a regular shifter. A regular shifter is straight, so the knob is in line with the shifter and shift base. With the bend in the FX4 shifter and the extra weight of the knob, you have created a moment around the base of the shifter. You are just hearing that little bit of pressure that the shift fork is putting on the slider. That's my take on it.

rolsmojave3 08-01-2011 08:19 AM

I've taken the knob off and it still does it. I'm not sure if there is an isolator on the regular shifters.

rangerpat 08-01-2011 11:30 PM

there is no isolater on mine and the noise that it make, when it is hot, is little bit loud for me .
thanks jharley79 .
i guess i will try to put a smaller knob and give you some news

keep on posting goog ideas and maybe we will find something
