Blower motor resistor issues

my blower motor all of a sudden went on the fritz. I did some digging, and figured out that it was the resistor. now I have a related problem. the connector that plugs into the resistor has melted, and the contacts are all rusted out. I have been digging all over the internet, and no one has anything. Does anyone have a partnumber? Oh, is it safe to drive my truck as long as the heat and ac is turned off? I might have to go graveyard to find it.

If only the highest fan setting works then that means your resistor is bad. You can get one a the Stealership, just ask for a fan speed resistor. Mine was all rusted to. Pretty easy to replace. For the Blower motor I'm on the same boat as you mine is pooping out on me to, only works like 25% of the time. I believe Advance auto carrys those(I haven't picked one up yet but I heard they do). You should be fine running your a/c and heat. I do when the fan doesn't work sometimes, doesn't seem to hurt anything

I drove my old truck with it melted like that until I got around to replacing it. I think they're still only available at the dealership!

Good, thanks for replying so quickly. I already have the resistor, but now I just need the connector. I just emailed a local graveyard to see if they have one. I called advance auto, and they don't carry the connector. I just have the resistor floating around in the engine bay. the connector fell apart in my hands!

I was meaning the connector is only available from the dealer. You should put the new resistor in to keep everything sealed up.

Oops I must have misread you OP. I thought you were talking about the resistor being rusted. Yeah you should be able to find a plug at the junkyard.

Ranger blower motor resistor and connector

The industry has an error. If you have a 98-03 2.5L Ranger and purchase a blower motor resistor from any parts store and they tell you they don't sell the connector (replace them as a pair, rust in the connector could be the entire cause of the failure)...ask for a connector that fits 04-10. Get the 2 parts together, and you'll find out they work. This should apply to all 95-10 Rangers with the 4 wire connector to the resistor located below the blower case in the engine compartment.
